Grand luxury hotelPosted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Restaurant, spa, facilities
Cons: If they could get their outdoor jacuzzi to work in winter, that would be wonderful!
Location: Manchester is a cute tiny town, with some good shopping, historic charm and wonderful nature around. Major ski areas nearby. Lincoln estate amazing!
The hotel's facilities and ambiance are outstanding. Staff is polished and helpful. The front desk at check-in offered us an upgrade to a room in the main building without extra charge - the upgraded room we got was wonderful - very comfortable and stylish. Yes, you can hear your neighbors and kids running down hallways - but that is expected in a historic wooden building and the noise wasn't unreasonable - we still got very good rest. The restaurant food, whether for dining downstairs or room service, was to die for! They got an amazing chef! We ate 'onsite' during our entire stay in Manchester - the food was just so good. Not cheap, but prices comparable to NYC.

EquinoxPosted Mar 22, 2015
Housekeeping staff left a very dirty soiled diaper on the room floor even though we were only 2 adults were in our room. Hotel allows pets no problem but dog in room next door woke us up every night at 12:30 AM.

Check your bill when you leave!Posted Mar 17, 2015
Cons: Needs building maintenance in back building. There should be affordable eating choices. Front desk needs to more careful.
Location: The town is great with shopping and things to see. We were there to ski and there are several good hills around the town.
The room was not in the main building but in the building behind which is of a lower class of construction. The outer door was warped and did not close. At first the room looked spartan but it actually was all that we needed. Spacious and clean and well laid out. Could have used an extra dresser. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were top quality. There is a very nice pool and exercise room, but when we were there their were many dozens of kids using the pool and it is very noisy. The room is billed an extra $30 per day as a resort fee and it is not worth it. Staff are excellent. Food is good but way too expensive. When we checked out after 3 nights they billed my card and handed me the bill without a discussion of the rate. When I checked it against my Expedia reservation I found they had overcharged me $236! I wonder how many people overpay for lack of checking?

Nice facilities but very noisy roomPosted Mar 16, 2015
My room was located close to the lobby. I could hear every person who walked by talking until past midnight. I love kids but not when are running and screaming in the halls. Avoid room 119 at all costs!

Equinox great, townhouses.. NOT SO MUCHPosted Mar 15, 2015
We love the equinox and have stayed there for years. First time at the townhouses this weekend. Great spaces, but the kitchens and bathrooms are dated... aka...gross. mattresses were unbelievably uncomfortable. Not the equinox standards we expect.

Good afternoon. I am so sorry to hear that our townhouses werenât as enjoyable for you as our main hotel. Our Inns at Equinox are a separate product then the Starwood Luxury Collection Equinox however offer a great alternative at a lower price, with easy access to our spa and restaurants however, we still want our guests to have comfortable sleeping arrangements and will certainly take your feedback and share it with our management team. Thank you again for your feedback.

Late winter xc ski and snow shoe getawayPosted Mar 14, 2015
Pros: The location and the history of the hotel. We love historic buildings and appreciate and encourage their restoration.
Cons: Maintenance seems to be lacking.
Location: Hildene, superb! Nordic ski center was great. A drive and snowshoe at Mt Independence was a big hit, with an Eagle sighting.
We've stayed at the Equinox once before for an overnight at the main hotel and really enjoyed it and decided to stay again for a five night xc ski and snow shoe vacation. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, and we really appreciate all of the efforts that went into restoring the main hotel, it is a lovely space. We only stayed one night in the main hotel and then spent the rest in one of the townhouses. Unfortunately, the guest rooms don't provide a dining space or a refrigerator, which we require for extended stays. We were really disappointed with the condition of the townhouse. They are poorly constructed with a dysfunctional lay out and the furnishings aren't suitable for the turn over. The kitchen area is totally outdated and there were numerous obvious maintenance issues that haven't been taken care of for some time. We felt we would have done better to rent a small home. The spa (pool) is also not exclusive to adults, so there were many small children overtaking that area making the noise levels too uncomfortable to relax and enjoy the space. Luxurious and spa are two of the advertising points used, but we really didn't feel it lived up to those expectations on this stay. We would stay at the main house again for an overnight, but for an extended stay, we would look elsewhere.

I am very sorry to hear that your experience in the townhouses werenât as great as you had hoped. Youâre right our townhomes are a different product than the Resort, however offer a great, and clean alternative at a lower price, allowing guests to still have access to all the amenities on property. I do apologize there were some maintenance issues and I hope our team managed to get those resolved for you. We are a family friendly resort and I regret that this made noise levels uncomfortable. On a more positive note I am hear our staff took great care of you, they truly care about our guests and do their best to meet everyoneâs needs and expectations. I hope you will give us another opportunity to host you in the future.

Wonderful, but missing a couple of comforts.Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: Location; outstanding staff; several eating choices inside the main hotel; couple of bars; gorgeous spa w/indoor pool.
Cons: Fridge & coffee maker in room.
Location: 3 Ski resorts nearby which is the big draw & Manchester has become an outlet town, if you like that. Great walking town.
We stayed at a "Deluxe Townhome -King Bed" for one night. It was very nice & clean. The buildings are old...The Equinox is an historic hotel dating back to the 1700s, so we didn't expect anything modern & it was beautifully decorated. I thought the bedding was absolutely luxurious...would love some of those sheets..and loved the Eucalyptus hair/skin products they put in the bathroom. Sold in the Spa..will buy it next time. It was an excellent stay & everywhere we went, the staff was outstanding. It was our 30th Anniversary & they were happy that we chose them to spend it with. It's a gorgeous old HUGE hotel & we can't wait to go back. Having said that, the only things missing were a mini fridge for drinks & the leftover food from dinner (we ended up tossing it...and it wasn't cheap food!) and a coffee maker in the room (like every other hotel I've ever been to has had). We took for granted those would be in the room & missed having them. We may have been able to get a coffee maker in the room, but didn't ask. But probably, if they had them to put in the rooms, they’d be there already. We did ask if the rooms inside the main building had a fridge, when we were checking out,& they do not either, so keep that in mind when you are booking your stay. I do believe, though, that they have some suites with kitchenettes. We liked our room, but will definitely stay inside the main hotel next year when we go.

It did not start well !Posted Feb 25, 2015
We had to wait more than 2 hours after normal check in time. Then the next day our townhouse was not cleaned. They did send someone while we went out to eat in the evening, that was nice. The place is overall nice but the staff is a little too matter of factly. They don't seem to realize they are in the service industry. We were almost verbally assaulted by the lady who takes care of the supplies in the gym area. Gym people were not very polite not trying to help. The hotel is in a great location but definitely not worth the full price being asked. However the townhouse, which was nicely decorated in a contemporary fashion, allowed us to eat and feel we were more at home than in a hotel room.

New England comfort and charm at it's Best!Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Staff History Restaurants
Cons: Keep up the great work!
Location: ski at Stratton Tour of Hildene Estate - snow-shoeing and cross country skiing on estate grounds Outlet shopping Great restaurants around town
From check-in to check-out, the staff couldn't have been more invested in seeing that my family was happy, comfortable and well cared for. Our room was a cozy respite from the wonderful nearby out-door activities. Skiing at Stratton and the snow-shoe/tour of the near-by Hildene Estate recommended by the concierge kept us plenty busy. Meals at the restaurants were delicious. A seasonal return to the Equinox now a must do!
