Pleasant staff and the room was ok. Not terribly nice, but close to the water and the surrounding shops.

It could be nicer

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: The name
Cons: No more ants and the front desk staff in the morning should not make breakfast. As I was ready to check out at 6AM, we have to find the staff.
Location: Do not eat the Mexican Place across the street...
We found ants in the bathroom and in between the beds... Not a good thing.

Way over priced. Extremely out dated and not kept up. Room was dirty and service was sub-par at best.

Nicely situated, not well kept

Posted Aug 21, 2014
I didn't do much research on the area before booking my hotel, but I should have. The silver beach hotel is located just blocks from the beach, one of the few with such close proximity. Which is what led me to making my reservation. However, compared to the other hotels in the vicinity, it is of the lowest quality. The price is obviously the lowest, and for good reason. The hotel is not terrible, but for the price I paid, I expected better service, a cleaner room and quite honestly, a better breakfast. If you want a hotel near the water, consider spending the extra dollar on one of the nicer lodgings nearby. Otherwise, it may be in your best interest to choose a hotel farther from the lake.

Very close to the beach

Old hotel, old rooms, so-so gym , nice staff! I would say that I actually liked my stay even though hotel feels like from the early 90s. If you want a fancy room go to the Boulevard Inn Saint Joseph, for 60$ more per night. However The Silver Beach Hotel is great for a weekend getaway on the beach

Not worth the money

I went there for the steelhead ironman event and paid about 339.00 for the night (369.00) with tax, the staff was not friendly at all and being a big event like this I would have expected some special race accommodations (for the price) but there was nothing. I had a two queen bed room with only 1 towel (had to go downstairs to get extra as the service was not prompt), and lastly the bar (which was located couple floors below our room) noise kept me up all night right before the race day! Not a good experience at all. In the future going to this event I will make other arrangements.

Nice hotel, close to the beach and downtown

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: It's location. It is extremely close to downtown St. Joseph and to Silver Beach! The lobby is beautiful, the pool is clean!
Location: You are in walking distance to the restaurants and shopping in downtown St. Joseph. It would be a 5-10 minute walk to Silver Beach
The staff was very welcoming! The hotel offers iced tea, lemon water, cucumber water (it was excellent!!), and lemonade to guests in the lobby. The pool and hot tub were clean. Our room was comfortable. It served its purpose. The rooms are slightly outdated, but we were able to look past it. Breakfast was delicious. The woman in charge of breakfast and the water/lemonade bar in the lobby has excellent customer service!! She always made sure we were taken care of. Two thumbs up!

Would never stay here again!

Room was dated, old carpet, banged up furniture. Bathroom missing parts of faucet, toilet seat was round for elongated toilet, shower was poor, very low height for shower head. Given note on 2nd day that water would be shut off @ 12:30 am hope to back on by 6, was not. Very difficult to get ready for work. Bed hard as a rock. The costly was ridiculous for the accommodations

Left when we saw the place.

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: nothing.
We checked in and were shocked at how terrible the rooms were. We were paying $350 a night so I was expecting a nice place. I don't understand how this place can get away with charging $350 per night when the rooms were dirty and smelly. After getting to our room, we realized the water was shut off due to a "burst pipe in the basement". Between the lack of water, dirty rooms, dingy accomodations and no roll away bed available (which we paid for), we got a refund and left the place. This place would be acceptable if they were charging $79 a night. They deserve 1 star. I wouldn't even take my shoes off in this place.

Great location and view for an overly priced room

Posted Jul 20, 2014
The location was perfect, close to downtown and from the balcony you can see Lake Michigan. But the staff didn't seem to know what was going on or where to find things. The room was nothing like the pictures shown and they asked way to much for what you got.
