“Beautifully renovated”

This hotel has only been open for 4 months after being closed for almost a year for a complete renovation. It is celebrating it's 100th anniversary this year. The renovation is tastefully done with all of the amenities guests want now without sacrificing the look of the period in which it was originally built. There are flat screen TVs, upgraded bathrooms with a spa feel and beautiful lounges on each floor. The public areas are wonderful as is the renovated dining room. We would definitely recommend it.

“Historic hotel with old fashioned friendliness”

Hotel was very clean and all the staff were exceptionally friendly. Piano player in the lobby played relaxing music and seemed to enjoy playing. The dinner food tasted great, but was gourmet style. I was hoping for a more low-key menu. It was expensive, but good. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The only downside of the room was the size. It was only large enough for the double bed, a desk, and the dresser which held the TV and coffeepot. Not large enough for a bedside endtable, etc. We only stayed in the room to sleep, so size didn't matter. Just thought I should mention size in case it matters to you. They are the first green hotel in Kentucky and are very conscious about being energy savvy. It was a great hotel to stay in!

“An up to date old historic hotel!”

Bed, dresser, table and tray were just some of the wood pieces that were made by students for the hotel. They were also available to purchase. We were upgraded from a Queen to a King room without any comment. The only problem - a governor on the hot water tap in the bathroom sink would not allow enough water to flow to get hot. Taking a shower in the morning rectified the problem. Well maintained hotel. It is a dry town.

“ok hotel”

Because this is an historic hotel, the rooms are small. It has been well maintained and the staff were always helpful & professional. This is just not our thing.

“nice place to stay..restaurant ????”

The hotel was very nice with friendly staff (mostly Berea students). The restaurant was fair. My wife's meal was so salty that she could not eat much of it. When she mentioned it to the waitress (a Berea student)the young girl apologized and said that the chef had a tendency to prepare the meal "southern style" which, I guess, meant too salty for most people. We ordered an ice cream dessert and I felt she should have at least offered the dessert for free to make up for the meal, but- no luck. My meal was okay but not worth the $18.00 it cost.Very little food(fish) on the plate. I would stay at the hotel again, but I would skip the restaurant.

“Cozy, very pleasant room”

The room was pleasant with an unexpectedly professional paint job on the walls, doors, and trim: superior attention to detail. The room was very clean, and the desk and chest of drawers had been crafted with cherry wood by Berea College students. No production line furniture here, not even in the lobbies. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very enjoyable with pleasant wait staff, good food, and pleasant furnishings. We took our time and watched people outside as they walked to their early morning appointments. The room was too small for a couple, however, unless they just wanted to rest before resuming their trip, and there was room for only one chair. We plan to stay at the hotel again, but we will definitely upgrade to a larger room.
