"Bergerac Stopover - would choose again"
A very comfortable one night stopover whilst travelling through France. The bedroom and bathroom were nicely presented with a comfortable bed. Only downside was that the overbath shower had to be used kneeling down in the bath as there was no showerscreen or shower curtain. Otherwise all was of a high standard. The hotel also offered ample free off road parking right next to the building.

"Nice, clean and quiet hotel close to town centre"
We spent 4 nights there at the beginning of June. Pleasantly surprised by quietness of hotel and yet just a few mns walk from town centre. Very clean. Friendly and accommodating staff. Good and varied breakfast. Had a room looking out onto lovely small garden and swimming pool beyond. Lucky with weather too. Bergerac itself is a lovely old and picturesque town well worth a visit. Wouldn't hesitate to go back to this hotel if I return to Bergerac. Good value for money too.

"Cycle trip through France"
Adequate budget hotel in centre of Bergerac well position for the centre and with more than adequate facilities. Parking place in a secure location to rear yard. Didn't eat or drink at the hotel as there were numerous other places win walking distance. Would have no hesitation staying here again.

"Just one night until going to the airport"
A very brief stay but still managed a sunbathe by the pool and a swim, eveing meal very good, only complaint was that it was SO HOT - but can't blame the hotel for that - weather broke a bit overnight so more comfortable in the morning

"Golf hotel with gastronomic restaurant"
Stayed here to have a quick round of golf and a fantastic meal in there stared restaurant. Not a cheap stay but well worth the stay. It is also worth asking about the formulas as they can include the golf as well for a small price.

"Lovely French country house hotel with golf"
The Chateau des Vigiers is beautifully appointed with a Michelin star restaurant in the main Chateau and a perfectly adequate Brasserie for less formal dining. Our room in the Chateau was beautiful. Some UK TV channels were available. The breakfast was excellent with local breads, fruits and jams as well as other specialities. Golf-wise all three 9 holes are in good condition and challenging. The course, designed by Donald Steel, is fairly new and open and is still maturing but provides a worthwhile experience. Good practice facilities and buggies for hire. We did not use the spa or outdoor swimming pool on this visit. The neighbouring Dordogne area provides sightseeing, good food and wine and beautiful scenery. The hotel is expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

"Beautiful country retreat"
We were recommended to the hotel by relatives who had stayed earlier this year, and so booked in for one night on our return leg to the UK after a driving holiday through France and Spain. The hotel is a little bit off the motorways if you are staying for just one night like we did, but if you are exploring the local area I cant recommend the hotel highly enough. Beautiful accomodation and a fantastic setting. The food in the restaurant was first class and the waiter was pleased to recommend the local wines, after which we thoroughly enjoyed our choice. We cant wait to return, but next time it will be for longer.

Pocket Guide: Perigord Bergerac Independent Hotels

Surrounded by vineyards and tobacco fields, this small inland port looks more towards Bordeaux than the Dordogne. A Maison des Vins in an ancient convent and a couple of museums pay homage to local industries and a once-thriving river trade. Rostand’s hero Cyrano presides over a quiet square in the old town, though his links with Bergerac are purely fictional. South of town, Château de Monbazillac showcases Bergerac’s celebrated dessert wine.
