Room ok but noisy from train track at rear, shower was cold, wrong address on bill, amenities ok. A bit overpriced for what you got. would think twice about staying again.

Friendly staff, good location, functional hotel

I chose Cantley Lodge for the location. It's right next to Wokingham railway station, and 5 minutes walk from the high street. In this respect it fit my needs exactly. The staff were all friendly and helpful and there was ample parking. The room was quite small but clean and comfortable enough. Bathroom was a bit dated, but clean and everything worked properly. It was a bit noisy between the railway and the road, and I was a bit disappointed that breakfast was not included in the price. I didn't eat in so can't comment on the food.

What a shocker !

I'll not be the first to end up in the Cantley Lodge when intending to be in the Cantley House Hotel and I will not be the last. It's a terrible mistake to make and even more shocking if you are hungry. Rooms are OK but only just. Dont bet on getting 2 people into a small double bed. Its comfy but the smallest double I have yet seen. The walls are paper thin walls such that you can hear your neighbours thinking. TV's are limited to a volume level of 6 and even at that you can hear every word from the telly next door. But it's in the food department that things really dip down low. You'd imagine there's not much can go wrong with a Steak and Chips but at Cantley Lodge it did. Twice. Offered the opportunity to rectify a truly dreadful steak which I could neither get a knife through (literally) and was not cooked (requested medium rare), the second attempt arrived very well done, and as tough as old boots. The chips had been recycled from the original attempt and were cold. Things can go wrong in a kitchen, I know that but when you are the only one in the restaurant and its early in the evening you have a higher expectation from a place calling itself a "Bistro".
