Comfy enough pub / hotel near to NewburyPosted Jul 8, 2014
It was a basic but clean and nice enough hotel. Ridiculously hot room even with a fan. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good, solid pub grub - nothing special but nothing bad either just simple and straightforward.

Miniature bathroomPosted May 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
A sliding door to help slot in the very narrow bathroom was a give-away in the old stables room I stayed the night in. Other than that it was comfortable & clean enough for a night and the patron friendly. Decent enough space for parking too, maybe 5-8 minutes taxi ride to/from town.

OK hotel, lovely staffPosted May 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
Nice enough hotel, bit "tired" but staff were lovely and had a lovely evening meal one of the nights I stayed there. Good enough for a work stay to avoid a long drive.

Chose this hotel for a visit to Highclere House, good value and well worth a visit. Don't hesitate, book in here when looking for accommodation in the area.

Nicely situated on the outskirts of town, easy access to road network and yet quiet. Lovely food.

Good beerPosted Mar 25, 2014
Pros: A really friendly atmosphere
Location: Good for local golf courses. The donnington vale and donnington valley. Don't get them mixed up as one of our party did.
The local beer was well kept and served. The staff were really welcoming and helpful.

Lovely Comfy hotelPosted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Customer service/Comfy room/Delicious food
Cons: Make it 200 miles further North so we could stay more often!
Location: Well located for Motorway and a short Taxi ride to newbury Racecourse
We stayed on a Saturday night. Race day trip to Newbury. The hotel is only a 2 minute drive from the motorway, excellently located. A single call to the hotel a few days earlier, had a Taxi ready for our trip across town to the Racecourse, which we were grateful for as we did not know the area. We left our car in the Hotel carpark,as arranged and at no charge to hotel guests. When we returned from the races we had a hassle free check in. A lovely room and nice big bath/shower room with Shampoo/Shower Gels/Soap. Most excellent big breakfast. A superb choice of cereals/Coffee/Tea/Fruit/yoghurts and a delicious cooked Breakfast of Bacon/Eggs/Mushrooms/Tomatos/Beans/Fried bread and Toast....Phew! A lovely hotel/Pub and lovely room.We thoroughly recommend it.

Perfect for a stay to access Newbury although doubt you'll find a smaller shower room anywhere.
