Good position

Pros: The breakfast. The room.
Cons: A better understanding of the English language by the staff.
Location: Very good location near retail park and superstore. Not much else nearby but a short taxi ride into Newbury centre with all facilities at hand.
Good position near retail park, and major supermarket. The breakfast was superb, second to none. The Thai curry from room service was bland, and nothing resembling red Thai curry which is strange as the same meal on the menu at the Aberdeen Hilton Treetops is perfect. The evening meal in the restaurant was okay, but nothing special and the steak was stringy and good to take back for a dog. The staff were very helpful if a little slow. On the whole, the hotel was well positioned with a comfy feel and we would recommend it and would return again, with the right deal.

Central hotel

A party of guests stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding nearby, we arrived early and were pleasantly surprised to have access to our room. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much bother. Had a lovely breakfast and again the staff were very attentive. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Everything was acceptable.
Cons: Egg Station at breakfast - scrambled eggs both mornings..
Location: Close to all amenities, motorway, etc.
Nice quite room, decent breakfast included in the Room Rate and all the staff I met very pleasant. Definitely be back if ever in the area.

Location: We'll located retail park with good range of shops plus a large supermarket all within easy walking distance
Excellent value for money deal via Expedia. This hotel has free parking and is well located. We were in a suite which was very comfortable. The only problem in hot weather would be the lack of air conditioning.

Hotel was OK but dead flies in the dining room.

The room was spacious and adequate for our 2 nights. The hotel room was very clean. Unfortunately at breakfast in the dining room in the morning my children noticed 2 dead flies and a dead spider near the window that should have been cleared away. The reception staff were good and an evening meal we had was good value but the experience on our last morning with the cleanliness in the restaurant rather put me off staying again.

nice hotel in public areas

Location: a taxi into Newbury centre will cost you about £9.00, tesco just round the corner
stayed here for one night the staff very friendly and helpful, however the room cleanliness was not what you would expect from a Hilton hotel and could do with room make over.Got the room cheap enough so cant complain to much but certainly would not pay £90 that is asked on some overnight stays here.

Hotel was so dated it felt really grubby, the carpet in the rooms was so old and dirty we sisnt take our shoes off the whole time. This is not what I would expect from a Hilton. It was worse than a Travellodge and 3 times the price. Disgraceful we had to pay that much for the rubbish we got.

Fancy hotel, not so great staff

My partner and I recently stayed at the Hilton Newbury, and being younger clients than they are usually probably used to (both 20) and instantly felt judged entering the check in area by the duty manager. To such an extent we actually left and put on nicer clothes (we weren't by any means scruffy, but were in more comfortable clothes for a 4 hour drive). After waiting for an hour for our suite to be ready, we got to chat to the bar staff, all of who were lovely. room 140 was amazing, as it covers 2 floors and tastefully decorated. However 2 light bulbs did not work, and neither did the 2 mini fridges (i wasn't prepared to move the cupboards to check the plugs). Room cleaning was very slow, we left by 9 am every day, and on 2 occasions returned at 6pm for various reasons, and on both times our room hadn't been touched. They didnt actually get to our room until 7pm, which i felt was not very good, especially as we were in a suite room. After for going to front desk for a few other things, such as tea bags (as we had no room cleaning that day) we quickly felt once again that we were not welcome by the managers. essentially its a very nice hotel, other than the 2 managers we met and the room cleaning. Bar staff were great, especially the gentleman with the European accent!

Comfortable hotel

Pros: Lovely quiet, clean & comfortable room and great food.
Cons: Soap in the bathroom would be the only thing.
Location: We stayed here for British Superbikes at Thruxton Circuit, which was only 35mins drive away, so would definitely consider staying here again.
A lovely hotel, well signed & easy to find. Friendly & helpful staff. Delicious food & good room service. Comfortable & clean room - only small issue was no soap in the bathroom, so we had to use the small bottles of shower gel to wash our hands.

Newbury City Hotel.

Pros: The reception, front desk staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.
Cons: I thought the hotel was looking a bit tired, the carpets in the corridors need replacing, and a general deep clean, freshen up would be good.
Overall a good experience, so very noisy neighbours, banging doors etc, but that is just bad luck. Staff at the hotel excellent, but thought the hotel was a bit 'tired'.
