“Nice hotel but watch out for the Taxi Prices!”
We stayed here for one night, whilst we were visiting the area and attending a medieval banquet at Littlecotte house.
The rooms were nice, comfortable, but a little bit stuffy. I hate to think what the rooms would be like in the summer, as we had the window open all the time and we stayed in Feb. The bathrooms were clean, but in need of a little TLC.
The heath spa is nice, although the pool isn't the right shape or size if you are hoping to do some laps. The Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms were very nice and relaxing. The gym looked ok, just a few machines in there, so very small, but you don't expect a massive gym at a hotel!
The only let down we experienced was when it came to order a taxi to go to Littlecotte house. The first taxi firm let us down, and the 2nd wanted £45 per taxi to take us 10-15 mins up the road, so we ended up taking our own car, which was a bit of a shame when it was unlimited drinks!
Overall a pleasant stay at Mercure Newbury Elcot Park Hotel.
