Cons: Eine Generalüberholung wäre angebracht. Bitten nehmen Sie Beschwerden der Gäste ernst.

Wir hatten Krabbelkäfer im Bad. Das Hotelpersonal zeigte sich unbeeindruckt und sagte lediglich zu, Gift versprühen zu lassen. Die Hotelausstattung ist mindestens dreißig Jahre alt, die Möbel sind stark abgewohnt, die Badarmaturen teils verrostet. Es gibt ausschließlich warmes English Breakfast, und das auch nur in einer sehr einfachen Qualität. Unser Zimmer war nicht im Haupthaus untergebracht, sondern in den ehemaligen Ställen. Zum Frühstück mussten wir immer über Hof und Garten, was bei Wetter mitunter sehr unangenehm war.

Cons: Breakfast. Service at breakfast, rooms need sprucing up
Location: 10 minutes from Newbury
Lovely grounds and a hotel with some nice features. However Mercure seem to have stamped a sense of 'ordinariness' on it. Rooms generally are bland and a little out of date. Breakfast was uninspiring and often the food was in short supply or allowed to just over-cook on in the warming trays. Poor range of breakfast options and a very ordinary service

Nice hotel for a reasonable price, carpets in communal areas are a little tired looking, but mostly fine. The evening staff were very friendly and kind. The hotel room lacked items such as hand soap, biscuits, hot drink selection, and we only had one large towel and one hand towel between us. (We did not follow up to ask for these things as we were there very late, but felt they should be there automatically). The bed was comfortable (very large!) and the room was clean....They are the main criteria for me! Also, the curtains are blackout which was great!

Pros: Staff very good and helpful,very clean and comfortable rooms
Cons: revert to the original restaurant and return the conservatory to its previous use as a quiet refuge for a snack and coffee whilst enjoying the view
Location: enjoy the local countryside
stayed there previously when able to sit in conservatory and watch the wildlife outside.This has now been made into a very narrow restaurant and is not very comfortable .The food was over priced and very average for the price.We ate out on the second night.Ludo the maitre de was at least pleasant on this visit whilst in the past he has been condescending and quite rude.The changes made have ,in our opinion ,made the hotel less appealing.

Pros: The service and the grounds. Good value for money
Cons: The room could have been improved with some more up to date furniture and some more pictures
Location: A pleasant country house feel, though the gardens were simply lots of lawn a little evidence of much gardening beyond mowing the lawn
The staff were very helpful throughout. The room was satisfactory - quite plain but very clean. We found a very pleasant small lounge to finish off the evening with a glass of wine. Breakfast was fine without being particularly special. Nice grounds to walk in.

I don't normally leave a review but this place was an expensive let down. The rooms themselves are no better than any holiday inn or premier inn, the televisions are the same with the exception that the holiday has more free to view choices. the breakfast was simply non-existent, at 9.03 there were no eggs, 3 slivers of overcooked bacon, 6 sausages and no toms. The service was meant to run for at least 30 minutes more and in that time I didn't see any of the non existent food topped up. There was no orange juice or water left and a few inches of apple juice. The lady servicing the coffee spilt some of it on the table, fair enough accidents happen but she didn't even say sorry, well she didn't say anything at all. For £149.00 and another tenner for a bit of toast it was very very poor.

Very friendly and welcoming, had responded to our requests for a travel cot and were very helpful in finding us a suitable pram-friendly ground floor room. Very comfy bed, lovely room although a slightly dated bathroom but very clean so no issues. Great room service and breakfast-very enjoyable stay!!
