“Picturesque”

Lovely surroundings, great service, got the feeling that the whole hotel was being slowly refurbished, most of the communal areas were nicely decorated. Yes, the rooms are a little tired (but clean and have decent facilities) but didn't detract from the experience for me. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel and would go again.

“Lovely location”

I booked this hotel as a surprise getaway for my partner. The hotel is in a lovely location and set in attractive grounds. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable with a good view of the river and grounds (including rabbits). The hotel is on an island across the river from the car park (connected by a footbridge) and is about 25 minutes walk from Bray village.

“Thames Delights”

Beautiful setting on a small Island in Thames, away from the city buzz. Extremely friendly staff, excellent service excellent for a leisure or business stay. 300 year old Duke's hunting villa. Yet, with reasonably maintained building and comfortable room. less than 30 minutes to Heathrow Airport. Surprising low rate. Minor disappointment: same breakfast dishes every day. Duck salad is delicious.

“Suited our needs”

The setting for the hotel is lovely on Monkey Island (although you can hear the M4 in the background!) - we were visiting the Fat Duck which is in walking distance so perfect location for us. Room is fine - comfy bed, good shower, hairdryer etc with nice view over the gardens - we were very happy with our choice as the price was good considering the area and other options nearby.

service was very impressive, the setting for the hotel was idyllic with peacocks wandering in the grounds and drinking pimms while watching the boats sail up the thames.

A very unique location, quiet setting, great staff willing to put up with our quirky business needs. Great value too! We'll be back for our next business stay in Maidenhead

Beautiful location on the Thames. Good meals in the restaurant with excellent service. Bar area very disappointing. Rooms small and in need of up dating. Could make more of the balcony area with some maintenance. Staff very helpful.

“Not really a hotel anymore”

Difficult to find in the quaint old village of Bray, the hotel is situated on an island and you need to wheel your bags over a bridge (once you find the car park). No help from hotel staff was available. The bedrooms and bar/restaurant are in different buildings. The junior suite I was given was not very special although nice view of the river. Few people on a Friday night (2 in the bar, none in the restaurant) so I went to a superb Italian restaurant in the village. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, lighting of trees and buildings superb. So for a wedding I would say yes, but as a normal hotel, no!

“Nice location - rooms a real let down!”

To be honest whilst the setting is beautiful the room that i have was old and tired. I had a garden room which looked out onto the laundry bins. When you opened drawers and cupboards the handles fell off. I ordered room service which was ok but I was taken back by the bottle of squeezy ketchup and squeezy mustard that came with my steak - not quite what I had expected. Personally although it wad clean and the staff ok I wouldn't stay again. The room felt small (claustrophic even), dated and I couldn't wait to check out in the morning as a result. They did have wifi but the TV wouold only pick up 2 channels. On the plus side the bed was very comfy. Also you have to cross a foot bridge to get to the hotel - if this was wet it wouldn't be ideal for the infirm but very exciting for kids!
