Impeccable stay - can't wait to come back!Posted Aug 7, 2013
Pros: Room design, attention to detail, and the rain shower.
Cons: no issues at all
Location: short walk from city centre, but somehow quiet without any street noise even with open windows.
Anniversary weekend - success! Spent a Saturday night here in the middle of a driving tour through Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and the Cotswolds for a dose of city comfort. Could not have been more satisfied with the experience from arrival (we'll take your car sir# to room escort #very cool Bang and Olufsen in there). One of the best showers I've ever had in my life, and a wonderful breakfast in bed the next morning. My wife is a designer so she has some particularities - it's the kind of place she would want to live! I can't afford that but will definitely be back. Absolutely 10 out of 10.

Fantastic cocktail bar but needs air conPosted Jul 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Me and my partner spent 2 nights at the forbury and really can't fault the place, situated right in the centre of reading only 5 minutes walk from the train station, everything about the place oozes class and the rooms are spotless and stylish , ours had a huge double ended bath which was great for relaxing in and the bathroom had speakers and controls to listen to the radio , a very nice touch, the only downside really was lack of air con although a fan was already in the room I think that a 5 star hotel should have air con, the bed was very large and extremely comfy leading to a good nights sleep, only disturbed by the shoutings of a few drunken people outside in the middle of the night, from what they were shouting I would put this down to a one off occourance and not something that the hotel could have done anything about, the hotel cocktail bar deserves mention as it is one of the best bars I have been in, a relaxed friendly atmosphere and the cocktails themselves are made with care and taste amazing , at around £8 a cocktail a little on the pricey side but they are strong and well worth the money and we will be visiting the bar again even when not staying at the hotel, overall a great weekend stay and would recommend the forbury to all.

VERY FIT FOR PURPOSEPosted Jun 2, 2013
Pros: The helpful and 'wiling' front desk; printing off emails and delivering to my room. An excellent dinner and first class breakfast served in my room.
Cons: No air conditioning in bedroom.
Location: Easy to find. A well designed use of an old building. Quiet city location 2 mins from main station.
I was intrigued as to comments I read in some of the reviews, that were mostly not favourable. I use hotels all over the world and crdit where credit is due, The Forbury have got it all right - from helpful front desk, bedrooms and first class dining. A delight.

Almost perfectPosted May 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent hotel, great location, beautiful decoration. Only two minor issues. First, the breakfast was sub par on selections and quality, but that appeared to be due to lack of interest. Second, the rooms do not have individual temperature control. In order to get things hotter or colder, you have to call the front desk, which gets very cumbersome. Other than that, the hotel was fantastic.

Pretty goodPosted May 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
By far one of the best hotels I've stayed in outside of London. Pure luxury but if you have stayed in a 5* hotel in Japan you will notice a few details that are lacking but nothing that takes anything away from the hotel and stay itself

Total luxuryPosted Mar 8, 2013
Location: Central but peacful
It was an evening of total luxury. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the room was, as my three year old grandson would say, awesome! A wonderful relaxing experience.

Lovely boutique hotel.Posted Feb 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a lovely boutique hotel. Decor is to a high standard. Rooms are lovely, the staff were professional and the bar was buzzing. One criticism - the housekeeping staff had no concern for sleeping guests when they started work early!! Lots of loud talking and noise from them in the corridor outside the room. Not everyone has to get up at the crack of dawn during the week!
