Luxurious interior, but lower level of servicePosted Mar 11, 2015
Cons: Expedia should not offer Junior Suites anymore from this Hotel.
Caution: if you follow the hotel suggestion on their website to upgrade to junior suite in order to get a 4-poster bed and free-standing bath tub, you might just not get it but only a slightly larger standard room. Explanation of the hotel: not all junior suites have those promised features. If you like luxurious interior design including a chandelier with 86,000 beads, go for it. If you expect professional 5-star service, go somewhere else. Even if our experience was only due to low-season- or weekend temps.

Lovely hotel that takes good care of guestsPosted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: The location and the staff.
Cons: The stairs leading up into the hotel. They are no fun with luggage.
This is our second time staying here and it won't be our last. The Forbury staff work hard to make everything easy for guests and they succeed beautifully. The hotel rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The entire hotel is clean and in top shape.

First Class Reading HotelPosted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: We liked everything about the hotel.... from the moment we arrived the staff were excellent and welcoming.
Cons: Aircon in the rooms would be the only thing that I would add as an improvement.
Location: Centrally located and very handy for the shops and amenities.
Stayed at the weekend and can honestly say that the hotel is extremely classy! Room was first class, food in the restaurant was great and service fantastic.

Not your run of the mill chain hotel.Posted Oct 31, 2014 on Hotels.com
A random, kid free night meant a getaway for the wife and I. Having dined in the excellent Cerise restaurant a few times, we have always wanted to stay at the Forbury. We were not disappointed. Lovely boutique hotel in what used to be the Reading council offices. Very nice room indeed. Easy access to a couple of nearby places to eat. Easy walk into the town if you want to access Reading facilities. Slightly noisy at night/early morning due to proximity of train line - we did have the window open due to very warm room. Still a gem of a hotel.

Home From HomePosted Oct 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed here for 8 days and are very positive about our experience. For the UK (we are Brits visiting from the US) the room size and amenities were significantly above average for the price, the food from the restaurant Cerise was never less than excellent and the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming and whenever there was a small problem they went out of there way to make sure things were resolved. Location is a big plus, the hotel being in a quiet location but only 2 - 3 minutes walk from the city centre and the amenities in the room such as coffee machine, fire and B&O TV and CD etc. made it feel like staying in your own apartment. My only one suggestion (or my wife's actually) is to look at some stronger lighting in the rooms and better placement of mirrors and hair dryers. We are already about to book some return dates for a couple of months time. Very highly recommended.
