West coast main trainline about

Paid £105 for my room which was small, basic, just been painted that day (by the smell of it) and about 10m from the West coast mainline, trains were constant to about 1.30am and the first one was at 4.57, curtains were paper thin. I will not be using this hotel again....

The management of this hotel need to take a look at what they are doing. We stayed 2 nights, the room was OK and the bed comfortable but paintwork was dirty, one bath towel provided between two people, shower trickled and not enough hot water, breakfast meagre. We returned for our second night to find the room not cleaned and the bed unmade. The explanation was the bad weather had prevented the housekeeper from getting in. Do you need a housekeeper to make a bed? As far as we could work out we were pretty much the only guests, I wonder why?

This is a very average hotel and not very well run. The location and potential are good but the decoration needs modernising and the staff need a customer care course. Breakfast was poor and there was one milk jug between all the tables! Check in and check out were chaotic with no-one knowing what to do. A disappointing experience.

Pleasant staff but lacking attention to detail

I woke early due to the uncomfortable coldness of the room - the heating had been on when I arrived but went off sometime during the evening and was still not back on by the time I left early at 10:30 because the room was so cold. The manager said he'd investigate when I phoned at 09:00 to mention there were no towels - these were duly delivered but the heating stayed of with no call-back to report progress. If I hadn't experienced these to problems it seemed like a pleasant hotel and could have been a good stay.

Booked hotel on location, but failed to see it was next to a railway line. The fast trains certainly keep you awake!!

center of town-reminded me of Faulty Towers

Cozy little inn with 20-30 rooms. Reminded me of the hotel in the TV show Faulty Towers. Combinations of going up then down then up a couple more stairs. Staff was friendly. Pub on premise with 2 bitters on tap and able to put on room tab. Room and bath were compareable to US size. Only negative were the creaky floors, but that was worth it for the quaintness

Pros: Cosiness and the bar. But why is it impossible to have a drink or a pub meal without tv?

Location: Extremely centrally located in a very small village
A cosy very English hotel. Small room - large bathroom. Very helpful staff. Beakfast very continental. Very nice bar

No time for breakfast

Poor stay, uncomfortable bed, too noisy, staff didn't care, we advised the staff we had to set off early, no problem, breakfast starts at 7 . We found to our dismay it did not. All doors locked, no breakfast, no staff, no value for money paid.
