clean tidy well worth the money with good food and friendly staff

Basic but clean and good value hotel. Convenient location for business travelling.

Had to wait almost ten minutes to check in as there was no-one at the front desk, in the end I had to find someone from the bar. The room itself was quite pleasing (a good size and very comfortable) however, the decor within the room was a bit dated as was much of the hotel. A small amount of money spent on paint would brighten the place up. Being a Hungry Horse, the food was of a good standard and priced well. All in all, the hotel was perfectly acceptable for the price paid.

The staff could not do enough to help, which made it a shame that the bed wasn't made on the second day and there wasn't any toilet roll in the room. The disabled bays were blocked off with no other space provided; which is a shock after an almost 400 mile drive. Usually we're told if there is anything like this before we book. The last morning saw us woken up before 8:30 in the morning by maintainence workers slamming doors. The free wifi was weak and provided only a single connection. As I said we've enjoyed previous stays, but this one was sub-par except for staff helpfulness.

The location was fine and the hotel was easy to locate just of the A4. The rooms were adequate and had all of the essentials including an iron and ironing board. I arrived at 9.00pm and food was still available in the adjoining "Hundry Horse" pub. They serve food until 9.30pm. I did not have breakfast so can't comment on it. I would use the hotel again.

The room was very spacious, with a large sofa, plenty of space for clothes, a nice ensuite. Tea, coffee & biscuits, iron & board, and tv were all provided in the room. The pub is in a separate wing so I wasn't disturbed at all. I didn't use it, but it looked like a nice beer garden. It's really easy to find even if you don't know the area (which I don't!), and is very convenient for Sonning Golf Club!
