The White Hart Inn

We were looking for last minute accommodation in Newbury to attend a meeting the following and booked the White Hart without thoroughly checking its location. It is deep in the "Downton Abbey" countryside and the 10 minute drive to Newbury claim is ambitious! That said, in terms of overnight accommodation, the White Hart is excellent and excellent value. The rooms are tastefully decorated with good tea/coffee making facilities. We dined in the restaurant which was fine with a good menu. The full-English breakfast in the morning was particularly noteworthy. To be picky, the internet access was fragile and the hot water to the shower was temperamental, but these niggles didn’t detract to an enjoyable stay and we'll definitely visit again.

Very friendly staff throughout. Superb food and beer. Lot of character, and public areas are stylishly furnished.

Friendly staff. Loved the pub, real fireplace and location! Room clean. Issues with plumbing, bathroom smells sewage ("Condition or maintenance of the hotel"=1 for this). Not for the business traveler: No Voice or Data cellular coverage inside, a little outside. WiFi unreliable with VPN.

Couldnt recommend highly enough. Really Clean, good old fashioned service, in a quiet location.

Other than the poor phone signal the room was fine and the facilities were good. The food was very nice and there was a good selection of drinks.

fabulous room worthy of any four star hotel- large bathroom but shower a little weak that would be the only criticism. look forward to returning to this gem.

The White Hart is a pub with rooms in a small village close to Newbury. The village location means that the rooms are nice and quiet for a good night's sleep. The rooms are clean & modern, very tastefully decorated and the staff are exceptionally helpful. The pub also does excellent food and the 'specials menu' is affordable and recommended. Probably not the place to go if you are a young family as there wouldn't be a lot to do in the evening but ideal for couples. All in all I can't recommend it highly enough and will deffinitely be visiting again.

Staff are totally dedicated to providing great service throughout and cant do enough for guests. Great food at a fair price.

A very pleasant place to stay, nice comfortable room, most accommodating staff, good beer and a fabulous full English breakfast.
