Nice pub, pity about the room.Posted Oct 1, 2013
I stayed at the White Hart for 2 nights for work related travel. Staff very friendly and helpful if a little slow off the mark at times. Pub food was quite good but it's let down by the rooms. The size of the room was good but the bathroom was quite dusty behind the door and on the floor as well it's quite dated. They need to rip up that carpet too as it's terrible, particularly in the stairwell to Room 5. Not a good first impression to see that carpet on the way up to the room! Bed comfortable and the water pressure quite good.

A brief but enjoyable stayPosted Sep 18, 2013
Pros: I was absolutely delighted with my full English breakfast.
Cons: Fix the latches on the ceiling windows.
Location: Short drive to Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey fame). We managed to buy tickets on-site by arriving very early in the morning.
We arrived late in the evening just before the stated closing time of check-in and were worried that nobody would be around to great us, but just the opposite was true. The manager and desk clerk were both there as well as several patrons in the bar having a late evening beer. Our room was a bit chilly due to ceiling windows that did not close and latch completely, but otherwise it was quite clean and comfortable. Morning breakfast offered a wide range of choices from a bowl of porridge to full English. Parking was convenient and plentiful. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the well kept grounds and local area.

Very nice place, excellent food - especially fresh fish dishes and tasty breakfast. Nice and helpful staff. Unfortunately there were few small issues like problem with Wi-Fi and problem with water pressure when taking shower (almost no pressure at all and only hot water).

Pleasant and peaceful inn.Posted Sep 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall, my wife and I enjoyed the stay. The room was upstairs in a building adjacent to the pub. It was very large and had a nice en-suite shower over tub. It appeared to us that the inn had recently undergone a re-invention of itself as more upscale destination. We had dinner and the food was very good, but the presentation seemed a little over-extravagant for what was being served. I couldn't help thinking what Gordon Ramsey's reaction would've been. Only complaint was that there were more than a few flies hanging around. It was my understanding that this was a particularly bad season for them. Other than that I would certainly recommend this place for a night or two.

Excellent Food, Tiny RoomPosted Jul 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed in a single room, which was tiny almost to the point of being claustrophobic. Overpriced for what it was. On the other hand bed was comfortable and the TV was a good-sized, new, flatscreen model. Outstanding thing about the hotel was the food. Best 'bucket of whitebait' as a bar snack I've had for years and a superbly well-cooked sea bass for the evening main course. Breakfast reasonably good too, though not at the standard of the evening meal.

Excellent in all aspects regarding room, location and service. The only complaints where the shower and getting a signal on my phone

Peaceful settingPosted Jul 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Lovely pub and restaurant, staff were very accommodating when I had to leave early in the morning and even provided breakfast before they were scheduled to do so. Rooms comfy and the settings superb, only slight quibble is the bathroom suit was a bit dated.
