Charming B&B - very cozy!Posted Jul 11, 2013
Pros: The room - how nicely it was decorated and how clean it was!
Cons: Perhaps if they had fans available for warmer weather.
Location: Near Windsor and Ascot. We toured Windsor Castle and then walked around the heath at Ascot Racecourse in the evening. Also,15 minutes from Heathrow!
We were so thrilled when we saw our room at the Winning Post. Pictures sometimes lie, but these didn't! A very peaceful setting -the rooms were stylish, up-to-date, cozy and clean! The bathroom was the best we had encountered in a B&B on this trip - clean, elegant, and spacious. There is a restaurant as well. A lovely setting with good food. The only problem was that the weather had warmed up and there is no air-conditioning (nor a fan) available. It was very hot upstairs. We didn't want to open the window, as there are no screens in England...so, we were hot. Also, the walls are thin and the doors are noisy. That didn't bother us, as the other guests weren't loud, just something to be aware of. The staff, however, were very kind and accommodating and the room was comfortable, spacious, clean and pleasantly appointed. We would definitely stay there again! Be aware, if you stay on the top floor, there is no elevator. Our luggage was big and bulky, but we managed. Also, as an added note, there was plenty of room in the room (which isn't always the case) for our luggage. Truly, it was absolutely charming!

A peaceful breakPosted Sep 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
If you like a quiet picturesque country cottage this is for you. The room was very comfortable and views to the garden were private and very nice. A bit difficult to find without a sat nav and a car would be needed. restaurant was good but not cheap. Downside:- blinds in the room were broken and difficult to work. Interconnecting door was not soundproof and you could here the tv in the next room. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. I would stay there again as it was reasonably good value close to heathrow
Hard to FindPosted Aug 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was acceptable but they changed their name some time ago and failed to update their website or their reservation partners. This made the hotel impossible to find, as addresses are rare. With the wrong name we wasted a lot of time and nerves looking for it.

Good Value HotelPosted Jul 2, 2012 on Hotels.com
Used this hotel as a springboard to collect relative from Heathrow and then commute to London from Slough – good value hotel , friendly and helpful staff. One problem was that the booking was for the Cottage Inn but it has changed it’s name to The Winning Post which foxed us initially but this was resolved by a quick telephone call. Breakfast was a little disappointing but for the price and location I don’t think we can complain. Would certainly use again and recommend to others

THE COTTAGE INNPosted Feb 2, 2012 on Hotels.com
This is a lovely, charming old inn. Don't let the exterior fool you, it so welcoming once you get inside. It is like a B&B, cozy and warm. Each room comes with its own quaint table and chairs. The room is equipped for breakfast with every thing you need. Our room looked out into a lovely garden. We felt like we had taken a step back in time. The staff couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. Definitely worth a stay.

Poor Reception StaffPosted Oct 27, 2011 on Hotels.com
I was travelling on business, having stayed in the area over the last few weeks, the hotel I usually use was fully booked on this night. I was travelling with a colleague and was met by someone from Reception with 'your one of the two!'. The rooms were heated well, well appointed, very charming with a cottage feel. Breakfast was laid out for 2 (one of the cereal bowls was dirty) - I sussed out how to acess the free WI FI myself. The meal in the restaurant that evening was OK nothing special. Went back to my room (room 3) with my colleague at 10 pm, lots of loud voices and loud TV from the internonnecting room. My colleague left at 10.30, I went to sleep at 11 pm, still noise coming from the TV next door, at 11.10 pm I tapped on the door and asked them to turn it down, SILENCE thankfully! Next morning, went for my shower only to find the window next to the shower was broken, but in the OPEN position, which resulted in a very cold and not very private shower. Had I known this the day before I would have asked to move as this is a security risk, female staying on my own in ground floor room. I also shared the bathroom with 5 spiders! The CHECK OUT was VERY, VERY poor - different Receptionist who obviously DID NOT enjoy her job! she was unfriendly, did not smile, say thank you or asked us if we enjoyed our stay. I commented on it to her when I was leaving - CUSTOMER CARE is very important to me! If they improved on customer care and fixed small maintenance issues this would be a great place to stay. My colleague and I would not stay again, we regularly travel to Maidenhead on business, normally in the big chains, same cost but much better value for money. I am not bothered if the room is charming etc, to me it is about the friendliness and warmth of staff that matter.

Couldn't have wished for better!!!!Posted Jun 16, 2011
Having tried to gain accommodation with our usual hotel in Windsor for the Royal Ascot races, I was forced to search for new accommodation. This was only booked a couple of weeks beforehand and I was unsure of what to expect. All I can say is that it was perfect. Real value for money, we were made very welcome and only wish we had booked the night before so as to enjoy the atmosphere which was clearly evident upon arrival and on the evening. We didn't bother going into Windsor for dinner but booked a table in the Restaurant - the meal was beautiful. The rooms have been recently decorated and are ideal. A fantastic touch is the fact that your breakfast is in the room at your disposal whenever ie: Melon, yoghurt, fresh orange juice, cereal, milk, tea/coffee. We will certainly be making further visits in the future.
