“Nice hotel with great location”

Recently my husband and I stayed at Agon Lichtburg in Berlin. We were both impressed with the location and value of the hotel. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was also very good. The room (standard double) was nothing fancy but I was very impressed in particular with the bathroom fittings (bath, shower, basin and toilet) - they must have been recently installed as they were like new! I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are after a luxurious getaway - it is more suitable if you are wanting a comfy base within easy access to connections and within walking distance to Ku'damm for your time in Berlin.

“Good option”

The hotel reception staff were friendly on arrival and once in our rooms were pleased they were very clean and large. OK, the decor isn't the most modern but acceptable. Breakfast that was included in price was a very generous continental buffet. Very good quality and very fresh. I would return to the hotel just for this.

“Great hotel”

Very clean and attractive place. My room, a small one high up, was lovely, quiet and welcoming. NB Americans, you have to pay for WiFi (a small fee) but they have a free computer in the lobby which is almost always available. Very nice neighborhood, the Charlottenberg, just two short blocks from the Kurfurstendamm, where you will find an U-Bahn station. Easy to get to from the airport, one bus. The staff is wonderful, very helpful. Everyone speaks English fluently, again great for Americans (who tend not to be good at languages). I speak German, but I spoke English to them, their English was a lot better than my German. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly. Especially at the very reasonable price. I will certainly try to stay there again the next time I go to Berlin.

“Old but clean hotel”

AGON Lichtburg lies in an old building something you can see from the elevator (made in 1956). Still it is a clean hotel with big rooms. It is kind of far of the main tourist attractions but you can easily find a bus or a U-barn which are located near the hotel.

“Good value hotel”

Slightly run down feeling about the hotel but still good value for the price. I liked the general ambience of it. Unlike large chain budget hotels it has a certain charm. The room was clean. I was able to find unlimited free parking around the hotel (I hadn't planned to take my car!). The hotel has it's own car park for a small daily fee. It's only a short walk away from the Adenauer Platz U-bahn station which is very convenient!

“great location, but.........................”

Had a great location, but there was a problem with the heat, or the lack of. We travelled in December, and Berlin had an unusually cold December. The heat must have been on some sort of cycle, warm...cold....warm....cold. We were about 3 blocks from Adenauer Platz on the KuDam.

“If it's this place or a park bench, consider the bench”

How to describe the abysmal depths of this place? Well, there was no heat in my room, though it was near freezing outside, and the night clerk apologized and expressed powerlessness to fix this, only begrudgingly sending up a crummy extra blanket. Then, it turned out, there were no towels in the bathroom, and the clerk even more reluctantly sent up two glorified hand towels. My night was spent shivering in a tiny little fluorescent lit single room so devoid of character that one could long for the floor of a bus station. Really, this place is awful. You've been warned.

“The thought of it wanted to make me cry!”

As we reached the Hotel there was no one at the front desk to help us. About 5 minutes later a young girl checked us in. When we got into the elevator we didnt know what to expect from the rest of the hotel as the elevator looked like it has not been cleaned for years. When we got into the room it was disgusting! it was dirty, smelled, really old, peeling wallpaper, stained carpets and wallpaper. I cried! I asked if i could have my room changed because it was not a double and the condition of the room was awful, i was told NO. Eventually my room was changed after asking the manager which in total took about 35 minutes of our time. The manager argued with me about the room being a double because it had to single beds together. That is not a double bed. The manager and all the staff were really rude and not at all helpfull. There was no air conditioning or fans in the whole hotel. Breakfast was average. I have stayed in 1 and 2 star hotels which have been alot better in all aspects. There was a big dead cockroach on the floor in the corridor. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It is really bad. We spent 12 to 13 hours out everyday and then the thought of going back to that hotel just made me want to cry.
