“Berlin Marathon 2008 winner!”
Stayed here for the Berlin Marathon 2008; ideally situated as it was a short jog to and from the start/finish line at the Brandenburg gate. Admittedly we splashed out on a suite but it was well worth it, plenty of space to spread out, immaculately clean room, and quiet even though overlooking the street. The lounge part of the suite even had a free to use running machine, as if 26 miles wasn't enough! No tea making facility in room, though this is common outside of UK. Staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent english. We dined in the restaurant on 2 of the 3 nights. Friday night was a buffet, excellent value and good food. Sunday night was off the a la carte which again was excellent but more expensive. Wine fairly expensive but as expected. Ground floor (lobby/bar/restaurant) is a bit of a warren and accessed easier from doors leading to/from the main street. As previous reviews have said, well situated for sightseeing and not many restaurants close by (Italian within 5/10 mins walk in adjacent street). Good street cafe across the road for snacks and an alternative for breakfast. Pharmacy and newsagent adjacent to hotel. Strongly recommended for a weekend trip, fascinating city.
