“A Trendhunters dream come true”

Berlin is one of the hippest cities in the world. Mitte is the coolest neighborhood in Berlin. Oranienburgerstrasse is the street to stay in Mitte. Therefore Arcotel Velvet Berlin is the place to stay if your vacation is not for going to bed early and you consider yourself a night owl of the best cities in the world. With a great location, on the corner of Oranienburgerstrasse -the coolest street for young adults- and Friedrichstrasse -the trendiest street for chic young adults-, puts you in Berlins contemporary mix of art and entertainment as you put your feet on the street. As you are received you get to see the whole concept of the hotel decor, based on portraits (made by a local painter) of iconic characters with some relation to Berlin (i.e. Marlene Dietrich, JFK, Brecht). The friendly and young staff of the check-in counter deliver you a weekly newsletter on the hotels recommendations for each day of the week on dinning, nightlife, shopping and cultural events of the city). The rooms are very comfortable and filled with a lot of technnical gadgets and, like the whole hotel, decorated in red, black & white with a sensual lighing all over. At an affordable price, with a great location for trendy people I recommend this hotel.

“Among favorites in Berlin”

I've stayed here several times, and it remains among the better places to stay in Berlin for the price. The location is among the most interesting in Berlin, and very close to many restaurants. Rooms are on average smaller than at the Arcotel John F, but the quality of service and free high-speed internet (bring a network cable) made up for it. Breakfast has changed to a free continental service.

“Bohemian chic”

Ten minutes walk from the Friedrichstrasse station in a louche but agreeable city area, the Arcotel is crisp and efficient. Everything works, it's comfortable and the staff are bright, informative and welcoming. We only ate breakfast there but the restaurant looked inviting, with a good wine stock.

“Nice stay in the Artsy district”

Fancy a nice stay in a trendy, artsy district of former East Berlin then Arcotel Velvet Berlin is your place! Rooms were clean, service was great, and the night life was great (well for Berlin anyway). Just be wary of the prostitutes in the gogo boots and you'll be fine.

“Great hotel in cool area!”

What led me to pick this hotel in Berlin were all the other reviews I had read on this site. It's really a great hotel in a cool part of East Berlin. My boyfriend and I were there for New Years 06. We had a room facing the street, great view with the cool window wall. Loads of great restaurants and bars around, cool art complex right next door. We felt like being mellow on night and you can get the video card from the front desk and go rent DVDs at the local place. Cleaning staff were quick and understanding (even after we stayed in the room all New Years Day recovering) Front desk was helpful. Bar in lobby a nice little break with free internet access. The only thing to be aware of--if you get breakfast in the hotel at Lutter and Wegner-the restaurant connected next door, unless it's already included with your room, it's extra and it's not cheap. Better to go to coffee house on the other side--great cappachinos! Berlin in the winter can be a bit grim and this hotel was a cheery cool spot in middle of it. Hope this helps anyone planning on staying there!

“Trip to Berlin”

Excellent location, modern rooms, reasonably priced but why charge 5€ for a bottle of water in the room?

“Met our needs well”

The hotel was pleasant, clean, kind of avant-garde/minimalistic looking (and we kept walking past the front door because it has a very unobtrusive storefront!). The neighborhood seemed a little sketchy (hookers working the street a block or two down from the hotel in the evenings); but we had no problems whatsoever, and the hotel was very close to an S-bahn station, so we great access to public transportation. I'm not sure if there was hotel parking--we didn't see any, but we didn't have a car so it didn't matter. Breakfast was 'sack lunch' type of bagel/cream cheese sandwich and fruit, coffee and tea, provided in the bar--minimal, but sufficient. There was free, reliable Internet in the room, though we did need an Ethernet cable (we'd brought one). We were satisfied with the price of the hotel, the location, and our stay.

“Fun hotel in lively area !”

Excellent good value hotel. Area is very lively and the rooms can be a bit noisey.
