An old fashion building, very well maintened and in a good location. Would be better if it had a garage or places in a covered parking. Employees very helpfull and kind. Nice breakfast.

“Nice little B&B”

This is a nice little hotel in an apartment block. You enter up a wonderful old wooden staircase to the breakfast room/recpetion on the first floor and some of the rooms are on the second floor. If you're used to big chain hotels like Premier Inn then you will probably be disappointed with what you get but I found it functional and clean. And the buffet breakfast was excellent. If you come from the airport then get on the 109 bus, it drives up Kurfurstendamm and stops by Beibtreustasse where the htoel is located. The city tour bus goes from just up the road and the nearest S-Bahn is just up Beibtreustasse at SavignyPlatz. A very good place for touring the city

“Fantastic location, beautiful building, reasonable rates”

I've been to Berlin three times and have stayed at the Astrid each time. Will be in Berlin again in August and will stay here again. You can not beat the location: a mere three minute walk from both the Savingyplatz S-Bahn station and the Uhlandstraße U-bahn station. Plus the bus line on the Ku'damm to and from Tegel airport is a scant few meters from the front door. Belibtreustraße is very chic and the hotel is very quiet. The rooms are nice, but not extravagant. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love staying here!

“Hotel With Character”

Stayed at th Astrid at end of May 08. When we arrived it looked a bit worn from the outside and on entrance it still looked as if it might have been a bad choice. However, when we went to reception we got a really warm welcome and the lady explained the building was more than 100yrs old. She told us how to get to our room - 3rd floor, by the lift. The lift was an experience - really old and a bit tempramental - but it actually added to the fun - just don't use it in the night!!! The room was spacious, airy and clean - very basic - 3 beds and wardrobe - with a shower room/ toilet built in the corner. We got a peek in another room as we passed and if anything it was even more spacious. Breakfast was great - a typical german buffet with loads to eat and again our little receptionist was there to greet us. The most amazing thing about the Astrid is that when you enter the building and go upstairs one side is the hotel and the oher side of eahc floor is someones apartment. I would say this is a very quirky hotel - basic, clean and very conveniently located - onthe same street as Sauvigny platz u-bahn (aScoenefeld airport line) and right on Kurfurstendam, close to the Zoo end. We booked late and paid a bit more than we would normally but we were not disappointed. All in all I would recommend the Astrid - but take the stairs at night. :)

“convenient location, nice staff”

the only drawback: if you want to squeese 3-4 people in one room be prepared to spend a night on a bumpy bed or sofa.

“a little downtrodden”

The facade is absolutly beautiful, however the inside seems a little old; complete with creeking stairs and floor, giving it a downtrodden feel. Although, the room was absolutly clean. It is in a nice area of Berlin. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Near bus stop and a short walk to U and S bahn.

“A good value for money hotel”

We went to Berlin four girlfriends. We choosed this hotel for the central location and the value of money. Location is great, next to shopping area,metro/tourist bus/taxis.Zoo 10-15mins walking.You can't ask for cheapper hotel in this location that also fulfils some good standarts. Room was spacious to accomodate all of us.We had a lovely bay window and in front of it was a small coffee table and 4 simple armchairs where we could chat/relax being in the room. Room with high ceilings and chandellier- quite aged.Bathroom small- very basic.Room is cleaned every day&towels change every day. Breakfast was generous (but only cold buffet),good quality and endless quantity.Don't expect a classic hotel- no classic reception.However the responsible people are 24/7. The hotel locates in a block of flat and it seems like you go to your friend's appartement.There is a sign in the outdoor that reveals there is a hotel there.You go upstairs first floor (there is a small lift) where the breakfast area and the "office" are. If you travel from Tegel airport the taxi reqires about 15-17 Euros. People in the hotel are friendly and keen to help. Overall we had great time as Berlin is a great city. The stay in the hotel was good-nothing special but we can't argue with the money we spent to be in the city center and staying in some decent hotel. Certainly we were nicely surprised with the size of our room.

“Couldn't wait to leave!”

On arrival, the elevator didn't work. Had to carry three large pieces of luggage up four flights. Forget hot water. The most you'll get is a lukewarm shower. The halls were kept dark throughout the night. Even when the elevator was not working and you had to climb four stories. Very unsafe.
