Hotel close to subway station

Posted Jul 15, 2014
I was at the Axel Hotel Berlin for a few days. It was ok. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, but not included and a bit expensive I have to say! The room I stayed was tiny! Not enough space for anything and when I'd take a shower, the room would get flooded! Internet was free but not the best. Gym was terrible! Why even bother saying that you have a gym when none of the 5 equipments work! Anyway, I'd stay there again because of the location and being a gay man, I try to support a business that is for the gay community, however, the Axel Hotel Berlin needs some improvement.

Wonderful Experience

Pros: See above
The hotel was centrally located, the staff extremely friendly and I loved the gym/sauna area on the top floor with the Jacuzzi with a view of the city!

Great location but disappointing stay

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Really nice jacuzzi bath in the room and a spa with sauna and steam on the roof... the nighttime view over Berlin from the hot tub is recommended
Location: Great for gay Berlin and Ka De We
Design over substance. Nice looking room but nowhere for your property or clothes, single beds in a double room (pushed together but still individually made-up). Staff in-attentive - had to ask twice to get the power sockets in my room fixed, asked them to book a taxi but didn't. We had a superior room... I can't imagine how small the standard is

Bedbugs!

Posted May 2, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, price
Cons: be sure to inspect for bedbugs
Location: Hamburger Mary is in the building, Bike rentals are available, lots of gay spots close by.
I arrived and was greeted by a helpful young man name Johan. He checked me in and offered up maps and magazines etc. I headed up to my room and found the hallways to be rather dark [painted black]. The room was small but reasonably well appointed for a hotel in this price range. The furnishing are rather dark as well. I inspected my room and sheets etc were clean. When i went to wash my face I found a Bedbug on the towel. I immediately called Johan at the desk, he was unfortunately unaware of what a bedbug is. Luckily I never put a bag on a floor. I quickly hustled down to the lobby as Johan suggested. I showed him a picture and genuinely believe he had no idea what a bedbug is, he googled it. He offered me another room, I declined. He then recommended another really nice albeit more expensive hotel down the street the "SanaHotel" Berlin. The hotel is in a great location and the staff nice [I stopped in for directions later that night, another helpful guy at the desk]. I realize the best hotels can have bedbugs, I just wish they were aware of how serious it can be.

The staff were great but the room was tiny, had an unpleasant smell in the room wand fixtures and fittings were in a poor state of repair. Worst hotel I've stayed in in years

Amazing Hotel & Staff

Posted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: The staff
Cons: Only downside is you are not able to charge to your room so need to carry cash/credit card everytime you go to the bar.
One of the best hotels i have stayed at, all the staff were extremely friendly and even when we arrived later spoke to the Restaurant that had just closed for food and they agreed to make us a burger. Nothing was too much for anyone to do.

Great! Part from one bad experience with the staff

Posted Mar 18, 2014
Pros: Clean, cheap, friendly and easy going.
Cons: The lightning is harsh and cold. LED are cheap, i know, but gives a terrible atmosphere.
Location: Great italian resturant 2 min from Connection.
Overall extremely friendly and helpsome staff. BUT we had a comment from one of the staff members going "You are in Berlin so why dont you speak german?". How is that even possible to be so rude?? Such a shame that this one guy is ruining it for the others.
