“Berlin Marriott = exemplary service”

This centrally located hotel is three blocks from Brandenburg Gate, where a lot of activity occurs daily. Many bus tours begin and end there; you can buy a Berlin Welcome Card for the mass transit system at a store there, as well. Potsdammer Platz is right across the street from the hotel for easy access to said mass transit. Arkadan Mall, an upscale shopping center, is two streets over. The Sony Center is also right down the street. The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful. We upgraded to the executive lounge, which offered a great breakfast, snacks during the day, and a light dinner and drinks in the evening. This was a great service since finding a quick breakfast in Berlin can be daunting. The upgrade also included internet access. We've stayed in this hotel before (in 2006) and we will stay again when we return to Berlin in a couple of years.

Area recommendations

The Postdammer Platz area, where the hotel is located, primarily because of the nightlife, restaurants and relative safety of the area. Also, the Europa Center is a great place to visit for shopping and for touring the nearby Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Not far away is the KaDeWe (Wittenburg Platz) for a shopping and dining experience you will not soon forget. I would also recommend a day trip to Checkpoint Charlie at the Allied Museum on Clayallee.

When to go

The ideal time is in September. Earlier and it will be very hot; later the weather turns quite cold.
