“An inexpensive, friendly and convenient base in Berlin”

I spent a very enjoyable week at the East Side Hotel. It is highly recommended to those who either can't afford luxurious hotels or have an aversion to them. Its homely and friendly décor and excellent service more than compensate for its lack of opulence. I should emphasize that my room, though simply furnished, was very clean and in good working order. The hotel is conveniently situated near all available means of public transport (U-Bahn, S-Bahn etc.) Lastly, the hotel should be congratulated on its restaurant which serves good home-cooking at all hours and especially late at night for those who find themselves famished but too tired to venture outside.

“Perfectly Located, comfortable and clean would definitely stay here again”

The rooms are large and spacious, neat and clean. I booked a double bed, my room had a cupboard, sofa, and a large bathroom with a bath/shower toilet. my friends who had ordered two singles in a room, didn't have as big of a bathroom nor a sofa. I had a view of the river spree which is opposite the hotel. Staff are very helpful and friendly. breakfast is from 6 till about 10, and serves a nice breakfast to cater for all tastes. It's perfectly located. less then 25 minutes to either Schoenefeld and Tegel airports by taxi. To get to famous landmarks i.e Brandenburg Gate will take 15 minutes by taxi. train stations Schlesisches Tor and Warschauer Straße are 5 minutes away. Locally there are some great clubs to go to like matrix which is just around the corner. visit the local area especially Schlesische Straße which is 5 minutes from the hotel. its a street of restaurants of every type of cuisine, bars and cafe culture. and it's also the place to get some late night food after a night on the town!

“Nice Hotel near the East Side Gallery”

This is a nice hotel directly across from the East Side Gallery where a remaining length of the Wall is covered with commemorative artwork. It is an inexpensive hotel but very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is terrific with a variety of choices depending on your tastes and mood. I had a couple dinners there as well which were good and quite reasonably priced. My room was a single and, as such, was quite small: a bed, a desk, and a large shelved closet. The bathroom also was small, but adequate. The accommodations were pretty much what I'd expected: a good place to crash at the end of days exploring Berlin. Within a couple blocks is an underground station as well as an S-train (above ground) stop. If you're on a limited budget, I don't see how you could do better.

“Good location budget hotel”

Very convenient for transport links to the centre and a lot going on in the local area. Good value for the price, very good breakfast. Only niggle was that the wifi did not work in my room (on the 3rd floor) but could get on to it ok downstairs.

“A clean, small, friendly hotel, ideally located near railway stations”

The Hotel room was very basic but clean and tidy. The room wasn't large but more than adequate for the 3 of us. We had a room on the back of the hotel which overlooked the local council yard but didn't cause us any problems. The breakfast in the morning was ample but if you want hot food you need to get out of bed earlier than we did! We'd recommend this hotel if you want value for money.

“Nice Hotel”

Good location just across the river from West Berlin and restaurants and right next to berlin wall. Close to transportation. My wife and I enjoyed our stay.

“good 2* accomadation”

the staff were very friendly with an excellent command of english. the hotel was easy to find, right next to the metro line and offered a very ggod breakfast. it also has a restuarant menu and 24hr food. the room was on the small side and could do with a bit of redecoration (cigarette burns on carpet, sealant on shower a little discoloured etc) but overall a good room for the price.

“Top hotel for the price”

Really friendly service, good bar (with typically twisted German art on the wall- excellent)and decent breakfast. Not five star luxury, and a bit down at heel perhaps, but an excellent choice for its price bracket.

“East side hotel”

The hotel wasn't too bad. It isn't prepared to go out of its way for you very much. The night staff was very friendly. Be aware that paying for a triple room will only get you a double room plus a cot. I'm not sure where they cot would fit, seeing as the rooms are small in the first place.
