“Excellent choice in Berlin”
The Hampton by Hilton in Berlin is a great hotel. Rooms that are sleek and modern; the cleanest bathroom in the world and an outstanding front desk staff.
Arriving at the hotel from Tegel Airport is a breeze. I took bus #109 and got off at Uhlandstrasse - you then cross the street and the hotel is just a short walk. Because I was in Berlin for 7 days, I purchased a 7-day transit pass at the airport for 27.20 Euro. The transit pass was good on the buses, trams, U-bahn and the S-bahn.
The Internet is free - just make sure you get the ID and password from the front desk staff.
Breakfast was very good - bacon, sausages, eggs, pancakes, meat, cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and several strengths of coffee and a selection of teas. After eating breakfast I wasn't hungry again until dinner time. There are plenty of good restaurants in the neighborhood.
The only item the room lacks is a safe. I took a small netbook on the trip and I just put it in the safety deposit box at the front desk before leaving for the day. No problem at all.
I especially appreciated the fact that this hotel is business oriented - mostly business folks during the week and more tourists on the weekend consisting of a mature, well behaved travelers.
p.s. The hotel had the most comfortable bed in the world - nice and firm with great soft pillows. Most mornings I didn't want to get out of bed. The duvets are washed/cleaned after each guest.
