luxury hotelPosted Dec 14, 2013
Pros: nice rooms, ambience of the hotel
Cons: i think for what you pay for the room it seems a bit odd that you are then asked to pay extra for breakfast somewhat destroying the myth of luxury

Setting a standard of Service ExcellencePosted Dec 12, 2013
Pros: Exceptional truly professional service. High quality of room with modern automation, quiet & efficient A/C. Location by Brandenburg Gate.
Cons: Nothing I noticed.
Location: The location by the Brandenburg Gate and walking distance the Reichstag, Museum Island, shopping and the Potsdamer Christmas Market was a plus!
The Adlon Kempinski has set a standard of excellence that others should at least try to follow. The service started over a week before I even arrived - I had asked by email if the hotel had any access to the Berlin Symphony performance for the evening of my arrival. Not 12 hours had passed before my email was answered with a concert seat confirmed to a sell-out performance. The Concierge team lead by Emmanuel somehow arranged this! When I actually arrived by cab, the door man surprising greeted me by name (I had then realize he had glanced at the luggage tags to get the name!). Upon check-in, Katerina at the front desk graciously couldn't have assisted me more - left her post instantly so that I could get my camera from my luggage that had already been held in a secure area. All the staff exemplified excellent manners while being very efficient - that's a balance I seldom if ever see. The room was very comfortable and very well appointed. The mattress in my opinion could have had a little more cushioning - but not unlike other European mattresses. The lobby was beautiful. I have read other comments about the 42 euro breakfasts - ok - so it was too expensive, but then it was a superb buffet. Everything the staff did was done with pleasure, not begrudging duty. I am not one to be generous with stars, but this is what all 5 star hotels should be like

Marvellous hotelPosted Nov 30, 2013
The Adlon Hotel is a fantastic place to stay in a great location, with amazing history behind it. I personally read substantially about it and how it was ruined in the war and later had to be completly rebuilt, so I intentionally chose it when I booked a trip to Berlin. The stay at the hotel was great and to me it's a very close second to the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. The houskeeping and cleanliness is second none, they do the cleaning in the morning and then at night someone comes to turn down your bed and prepare bathrobes and towels, which is very nice. The lounge bar and the Quarre restaurants are both good and I am lead to believe that the other restaurant is even better, which is of course proved by the two-star rating it holds. The only small issue that I have is with the front-desk staff who could, in my humble opinion, improve on their hosting abilities - the girl that checked us in was one of the friendliest and no questions seemed too silly, but during our checking-out we got someone else that emitted the feeling that she could not see the back of us fast enough, which is a shame for such a lovely hotel. I would definetly recommend.

Gorgeous hotel in an excellent locationPosted Nov 19, 2013
This hotel was incredible. My girlfriend and I had never stayed in a 5* hotel before, but I couldn't recommend Hotel Adlon enough. One problem we found was that it was very expensive for food and drink, and it's not that near to any restaurants, but it is situated right outside a subway station, so it didn't really matter. The hot chocolate is something else though, absolutely gorgeous.

Close tothe main visiting areas an ideal luxury position with all the amenities to relax from a hard day on your feet. Hotal is busy and buzzing with atmosphere although expensive good value for money.
