“Great location!”

The hotel was great in that it is perfectly located right near the underground (great access to the city center). It was also very clean, and comfortable. A few recommendations though; before you arrive make it clear whether you have breakfast included in the price or not, that you will be placed in a "non-smoking" room if that is what you prefer, and the type of internet access (I had my computer but had to use the internet cafe across the street). Overall, it is a great hotel and has a perfect location! I recommend it, but make sure you have the details in place before you leave.

“A decent hotel for budget travellers.”

I visited Berlin for a long weekend of sightseeing. I needed a basic budget hotel, which was easily accessible by public transport; this hotel served the purpose very well. It's located about 100 metres from a U-bahn station ( Kurt-Schumacher-Platz ), from where it takes about 25 minutes to the city centre or Hauptbahnhof. It's a 15-minute bus ride from Tegel Airport - though this is no longer relevant, as Tegel is about to close. There are also several restaurants within a couple of minutes' walk of the hotel. The hotel staff speak fluent English, and are friendly and helpful.

“I will definitely return”

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. Good few coffee shops, restaurant bar type places close by. Underground and bus stop just across the street. Bus 128 runs frequently and takes about 15 minutes to the Airport. Planes do pass overhead but this didn't bother me as i was out all day. Tegal Airport is due to close early summer 2012 making way for the new Brandenburg on the south side of the city.

Great location with respect to the underground. Very nice grocery store across the street in mall. Excellent steaks at the Doreedos restaurant (also across the street). Would be a fabulous place if they just had free or low low cost wi fi.

“Good Location”

Visited Berlin for a few days in May 2011 and found this to be well located for the city centre, about 20 mins on the U Bahn with Kurt Schumacker station a very short walk away. The local area has a few shops and restaurants, a nice Italian just 50 mtrs away is reccomended, and McDonalds just 5 mins walk away for a budget breakfast. Other than that not to much else to offer as a tourist area, but with Berlin centre close by that was not really an issue. The hotel is easy to find and although not that enticing from the outside the hotel offers decent accomadation, we found the room comfortable and clean, no kettle though which was dissapointing We did not use any of the hotels facilities so cannot comment on these. Not the best hotel for those who sleep lightly as there is some traffic noise and the aircraft approaching into Tegel airport which are very close, great for plane spotters! The airport is due to close in June next year. The hotel is a great base to explore Berlin, friendly and inexpensive and would reccomend as a place to rest your head after a busy day sightseeing.

Hotel was adequate and comfortable. Good location for Tegel Airport - easy access by bus and also good access to city centre, though aircraft noise may be an issue for some people. I was allocated a single room and told I had to change rooms after 1 night of a booked 3 night stay. The second room wasn't ready until after 1:00 meaning I was without a room for some time. This didn't matter but the change seemed unnecessary.

“Hotel Barlin Tegel”

Hote handy for Tegel airport, or perhaps too handy, as the aircraft fly very close and beside the hotel, you get about two seconds warning of their arrival. Double glazing not very effective as so close. Three star rated but had to go and buy own kettle and cups, bu did have hair dryer? Priorities? Nice touch was not letting us (English tourists) know that the clocks went forward an hour so we missed breakfast. No lift and the hotel starts on the first floor, for reception, with rooms on the floors above. Our particular room smelt "sweaty" never had that before but could not pin down the source, very noticeable on first entering the room. The hotel is easy to find as so close to Tegel. Overall would not go back to it, a pity as very friendly Italian resturant "Il Molono" (Windmill) two doors up.
