“Never Go”

We are deeply sorry for what you had encountered – the room to which you were allocated was located in our Classic wing which is history since– Friday, November 18, 2011. Thus we have started with a total renovation programme of the Classic Wing and by March we will have also these 200 rooms totally adjusted to the needs of nowadays traveller.

a wonderful hotel, located very close to the main sites of berlin, lovely atmosphere, i definitely recommend and will go back there!

Area recommendations

definitely book a hotel in zone A of berlin (look at train map) - B is already outside the city, wouldn't recommend booking there.

“Wonderful Hotel”

This is a wonderful hotel near the Kurfurstendamm shopping district. U-Bahn is about a 5 minute walk and the bus stop is right across from the hotel. The only thing was the TV in the room was not HD. The service, people and condition of the hotel was excellent.

Area recommendations

Mitte. Kind of funky and chic neighborhood with cool restaurants and bars.

“Shabby rooms, nice lobby, restaurants and sauna”

This hotel needs a renovation of their guest rooms and the worn outdated interior of the room needs to be addressed. The sofa was falling apart with torn textile fibers hanging off the seats, the mattresses were uncomfortable, soft and more like hammocks and the bathroom was probably in the same condition since the 70s. Do not attempt to watch TV if you have a vision impairment, the TV size is more like a miniature and the image is blurred due to a problem with the antenna/ satellite system. In contrast, the lobby area, the patio, the restaurants and the sauna were modern and beautiful. The hotel announced a scheduled renovation for the end of the year.... do not go there unless they confirm that the rooms are renovated!

“Excellent Hotel!”

“Impressed”

Was really impresed. Nice looking, and in good condition. Had a misunderstanding about a bill for laundry, but it was sorted out after talking to them. It is a little bit of a walk from the U-Bahn station if you have luggage. There are a couple buses that stop right across the street though. Bus 100 which goes by a lot of the well known tourist attractions stops there.

Getting around

One of the U-Bahn lines that goes by the closest station (Nolendorf Platz if I remember right) is undergoing maintenance right now (I think it'll be done later this year). Luckily, if you're taking that line from a station further out, you can just take it to the station before or after Noldendorf Platz and just transfer onto one of the other stat We went out to Ku'damm a couple nights. The first night we took the U-Bahn, and found that it was not running when we were coming back a little after midnight. Luckily, the buses run a lot later (though not as frequently as during the day, so you may have to wait a little longer). We were there for four or five days. The Berlin Welcome Card was fantastic for getting around, it was nice not to have to worry about validating every day, or whether our ticket would cover multiple trips, etc. You can get it at the tourist information place at Berlin Hbf (main train station). We were also able to get to Tegel with it. A lot less hassle (and cheaper) than what we had to do in London.

What to pack

Rather than paying for expensive hotel wifi, I bought an unlocked GSM USB modem before I left and got SIM cards in Germany (and the other countries I was in). Ended up being cheaper than paying a ton for hotel wifi.

“Good value hotel”

Good situated close to Kudamm and Tiergarten. Everything is good - breakfast, rooms, reception, cleaning. They offered full bed for the child and large room (which is rare). Not impressive interior of the modern style building. Good value generally.

“Overall a great value”

The breakfast is a bit overpriced, but the selection really is wonderful and if you go hungry, you can offset the cost by eating yourself to pain should you deem it necessity. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was quite pleasant; away from the crowds but close enough so you could get to the good stuff in a short time.
