Quiet Hotel in Check Point Charlie
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: Locationa five minute walk from three different train stations. I found tasty coffee shops and terrific restaurant.
Cons: For some people, having no mini bar in the room may be a problem.
Location: There are two outstanding restaurants near by the hotel: Entrecote (Schtzenstr. 5) Sale e Tabacchi (Rudi-Dutschke-Strasse 23)
The Gat Point Charlie is conveniently locateda five minute walk from three different train stations. I found tasty coffee shops and terrific restaurants in short walking distance. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They made a reservation for restaurant, printed out documents, and did other services. The room is quiet and bed is firm. For some people, having no mini bar in the room may be a problem.

Pros: Nice design all around
Cons: Located in a somewhat boring part of town
Location: Just off Friedrichstraße, a bustling shopping district. Kind of meh if you ask me.
Clean, modern hotel with no-nonsense, well designed rooms. This place feels a lot more expensive than it actually is.

Pros: clean,efficient
Cons: price of breakfast
Location: well placed for exploration with an underground station nearby, good breakfast bars nearby, quiet.
i stayed here with my son for two nights on a weekend and was drawn to this hotel by the location which was ideally suited for most of the main attractions, the price which i found to be competitive and the quirky interior design.being so close to checkpoint charlie we found it nice and quiet.the check in staff were pleasant and helpful and were tolerant of my schoolboy tourist german but i knew they could speak english as i heard them in conversation with other guests.the room was superbly clean.the shower excellent, hot water when we needed it morning and night.soap and shower gel was supplied.the tv only had german channels which was no problem to us.the beds were comfortable enough but i didnt get on with the duvet,it stayed on and was warm enough but just felt a bit stiff.we didnt have breakfast there as we got it in the city for a lot less however the room and tables were very well attended, likewise the cocktail bar, we didnt use it,but there were always guests in it when we came in at night.you can hire bicycles from the hotel if you wish.we were very happy with our stay there and would certainly stay again.it was clean, efficient and served us well as a base to explore berlin city.

As the title said, I thought very highly of the hotel. The front desk is amazingly helpful and kind. They have no air conditioning, which is something you absolutely need to take into account if you are going during the summer. The rooms can get as hot as 82 degrees (sometimes more or less) depending on the heat outside. The windows open, but that leads to the other problem of mosquitos in the Berlin summer. Additionally, if you are looking for a hotel with room service/services beyond just a maid-service and front desk, you're choosing the wrong place. They have a wonderful bar and buffet in the morning (neither is free obviously) but nothing beyond that. This is absolutely NOT a problem because the area around is full of great restaurants that are open late. Plus, the advantage of having checkpoint charlie right next door as well as very close proximity to the Brandenburg gate and tour lines makes this worth it. Oh and the high speed internet is amazing and free. Overall, I'd give this a 4.5 / 5. Had the air-conditioning been there, it'd have been a solid 5.

Great location, clean, modern and economical. Not a plush experience, but it has all the basics a traveller needs. I would stay there again.
