A serviceable budget hotel near central BerlinPosted Jun 14, 2012
Pros: location, cleanliness
Cons: unreliable wi-fi, physical security
Location: convenient to S-Bahn/U-Bahn/bus and local shopping and meals
I stayed for five nights. This is Germany: speak some German. One must adjust expectations based on price and location: This hotel offers a very low price and it is located in a section of Berlin which is comprised of mainly people of low income and Turkish people. Perhaps some travelers might not be comfortable with that. The neighborhood is safe. It is only a few minutes walk to the S-Bahn or U-Bahn;there are many local eateries/restaurants/cafes in the neighborhood, all Turkish. The building is old but serviceable.Rooms the same. The TV worked fine but the Wi-Fi Internet, even in the rooms on the street side of the hotel, which is the best side for Wi-Fi, the owner told me, works poorly: The connection with the Internet outside the Wi-Fi is unreliable and unpredictable. So,if you must have Internet access and especially for critical tasks, you may not be able to do that here. The staff is present only in the check-in/out times in the morning and in the afternoon. They may not answer the telephone and they may not reply to messages on the answer machine. They may not be present when you arrive late at night. Each room will lock securely but the doors into the stairwell and to the outside are often left open and unsecured. The hotel is quiet, the beds comfortable, the shared bathroom/toilet is secure and very clean. It is' a non-smoking' hotel but some guests do not respect that.

It's Functional!Posted Sep 28, 2011
For the price per night for a single room 10 minutes from Alexanderplatz on the UBahn, you can't really complain. The main irritation was that the advertised wifi didn't exist all weekend and also there were no extra amenities such as a kitchen area for guests (although there were no claims that there would be one). The room was clean and comfortable, but having stayed in Berlin before, I don't think I will go back to this particular Hotel.

Nightmare on first night - dont turn up latePosted Sep 14, 2011 on Hotels.com
We arrived there at 10.30pm on a taxi straight from the airport and there was nobody around. The reception was locked, their phone didnt work (on our mobiles and the local pay phone), we asked people around the place for help and none of them could understand us and were unwilling to try. There was no indication that this may happen if we arrive late and having stayed at hundreds of hotels over the years without ever informing them what time I would arrive, I just assumed it would be OK arriving at 10.30pm. That was clearly a mistake. We resorted to sleeping on the couch outside reception until 4am when a local decided to do the same thing up the stairs on another couch. We started the day early and went into the city after that. We came back later and got the keys in the afternoon to sleep and recover. It was generally OK for the price after that. We didnt bother complaining because we just wanted a room by this point and the receptionist couldnt understand us anyway - what was the point. We were in an area where nobody could understand us and at least we now had keys to a reasonable room. We just put it down to experience. You have been warned if you consider going to this place. You're better off paying for a reasonable youth hostel if you are looking for something cheap.
