“Best location in Berlin”

Excellent location across the central train station (Berlin Hauptbanhof), spotless room, great AC (essential during a Berlin heat wave). Hotel crowded with noisy young crowd but my room was at the very end of the hall and was not bothered at all while in my room. Lots of places to eat at the station but very good variety of restaurants past Invalidenstrasse (east direction) or take short train ride to Fredrickstrasse. Good value for the money.

“Good base to explore Berlin”

Hotel was in a great location (walking distance to Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate) next to the main rail station. The other guests were a mix of retired travelers, business people, and groups of younger kids. The room was small, clean, and quiet, all we needed for 1 night. The rate was very affordable and I would stay there again.

“Good value accommodation in Berlin”

The Meininger hotel is a great choice for a great value stay in Berlin. It is conveniently located next to the big Berlin Hauptbahnhof station so you can get quickly to everywhere in the city. The hotel is also near the Reichstag building. The hotel was busy when we were there with school groups as they offer dormitory type accommodation as well as twin/double rooms. The room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was continental style and was kept well stocked despite the number of guests. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a good value, conveniently located hotel in Berlin and will definitely go back!

“Berlin Marathon”

This Hotel (Meiningen Hotel) is in a perfect location for what I wanted, being a short (12 minutes) walk from the start and finish of the Berlin Marathon. It is therefore that distance from the Brandenburg gate, one of the most famous icons in the world, and the start of central Berlin. The hotel is right next to another icon, the brand new Hauptbahnhof (central Berlin station, completed 2006, listed as a "superstructure"). The hotel is fantastic value. It all looked brand new when I went (September 2010) as all the bathroom fittings looked unused! The beds were very comfortable and the TV had about 30 channels (most German). The hotel has a bar but no where to eat, but the station has a wealth of fast food places, and two supermarkets, so you're very close to amenities. Right outside the hotel, tour buses start, and being a station, all transport links to the airports are handy. The only minor drawbacks are that the rooms are a little sparse, having no carpet and no door on the wardrobe, you have to queue for a while at the reception to book in, and there is no comfy chair to sit on - you have to use the beds. The other thing is the address of the hotel is obscure, even the taxi drivers don't know it. But being bang next to the station, you only have to try one of two sides to see it.

“Nice and affordable hotel!”

A nice hotel for everyone but especially for young travelers. Good vibe and atmosphere.

“Bahnhoff Hotel”

Staff were friendly and helpful. Unlike other hotels That cost much more in Berlin where we also stayed at.

“Location, location, location and that's about it!”

Easy access from the main rail road station, but it is not much more than a brand new shiny, somewhat expensive "hostel".

“Only Bunk Beds?”

Kept geting conflicting messages on rules of parking and what was allowed. Free parking is available, at the owners risk, about a .5 km walk. The hotel has NO parking at this time. Local on street parking is available, $$$. As far as room accomodations, when families travel together, it is usually on double for parents and individual or bunk beds for each child, not in our case, the room had 2 bunk beds. I did mention it to the staff, and that was the only thing available. The same type of reservation was made in the Salzberg Meninger and we had a double and a bunkbed, odd.

“May 2012”

If you're looking for a cheap, well located hotel in Berlin, this is a safe bet. It's a 10 minute walk to the Reichstag with the Brandenburg Gate just beyond. It's aimed at the 'urban traveller' but for this read anyone from more affluent backpackers to older weekend trippers (and small groups) who value location, modern facilities, most creature comforts and a trusted chain but prefer to spend most of their money in the city rather than on the hotel. It also benefits from great views of the Bundestag, and the Reichstag's roof (from 2 sides). I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a romantic break though as it's definitely in the budget bracket. It can get hot in the rooms so open your windows before heading out. And if you have the windows open over night, expect some noise from the building site next door in the morning. But this is Berlin so expect plenty of building sites - it's part of the vibrant charm. Although breakfast is cheap, we used the train station which has plenty of better quality, even cheaper quick eats. And on a good day, you can take your goodies down to the banks of the Spree.

“Great location; but dirty due to terrible housekeeping”

This hotel has the potential to be great; it's located right next to the Berlin Central train station and has nice rooms that are simple/modern. It's a shame they don't pay much attention to keeping those rooms clean. Our room smelled a bit like a college dorm, and the floor was dirty when we arrived. During our stay, housekeeping never replaced our towels (even though they removed them), never changed our sheets/pillowcases, and they didn't clean the bathroom or vacuum the floors either. Housekeeping folded the sheets on the bed, rearranged the pillows, and left. Nothing was actually cleaned or replaced! I hope they at least replace the sheets in between guests!
