Excellent Hotel, great location

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: Very clean, quiet and chilled out vibe ran through the whole Hotel.
Cons: The pillows were not the best and there was no Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room.
Location: Very Central location, close to most of the big sites in Berlin
We booked this as a cheap Hotel to stay in during our time in Berlin so did not have massivly high expectations other than a room to sleep in during the evenings. When we arrived I was very surprised. Firstly the location is brilliant, located within walking distance to most of the big attractions in Berlin and located on a lively main street with shops and god restaurants near by. Check in and check out was very quick and simple and not the usual drawn out process. The lady on the front desk was very helpful and let us check in at 9:30am even though official check in is not until 3pm, and also gave us a free late check out on our departure day. The Hotel lobby is clean, spacious and warm! There are comfy sofas throughout and an Bar that does excellent cocktails with a very chilled out vibe. The room was impeccably clean, warm, quiet and very welcoming. It had a very modern bathroom with a very powerful shower and large bath tub. The room had plenty of space for our bags, and lots of cupboard space for all our things. The beds were large and comfy and the black out curtains make for a good nights sleep. All in all a great Hotel, would definitely recommend and go there again.

Fantasic location

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Location, ambience, staff, value for money, comfy bed and duvets
Cons: English TV channels
Location: Hop on hop off bus stop is a 10 minute walk with Brandenburg Gate 1st stop thereafter.
We stayed for two nights and everything was perfect. Even when we had problems with our minisafe where our money and passports got locked inside, it was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The location is perfect for exploring the city and the view from our 6th floor river view room was lovely. I had pre-ordered champagne on arrival and it was perfectly chilled and we tried both bars where we had relaxing drinks on both nights. Breakfasts were good but we recommend becoming a Melia Rewards customer which gives you a substantial discount from the standard rate. Overall excellent and if we return to Berlin we will be booking this Melia hotel.

Good hotel very close to city centre

Posted Nov 2, 2014
Pros: Fresh, modern and spacious, yet homely.
Cons: Reduce the rate for breakfast and provide tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Location: By the river within 500m of most of the major museums.
Stayed for 3 nights with teenage family. Hotel is very conveniently placed for all of Berlin's attractions but nicely away from the tourist and commercial hot-spot of Kurferstendam. However, it's proximity to Friedricstrassebahn means anywhere can be easily reached by the excellent rail system. We bought Berlin Visitor Cards but they worked out to be expensive and not value for money without careful planning (not my forte). Beware that most museums are closed on Monday. Unless you are going to spend alot on paid attractions and visit many in a day, I would just recommend a group day ticket for public transport. For good food, beer and atmosphere I can recommend the Brauhaus Mitte, Rochstrasse (near Alexanderplatz). In all, a great city with a LOT to see.

Excellent central position

Posted Oct 28, 2014
Pros: Position. Possible to walk to most major sites and museums. Very close to main railway station for airport transfer.
Cons: Breakfast at 24 euros was too expensive so we ate elsewhere. Tea and coffee in the room was charged I think 5 euros each per day so we didn't bother.
Location: Right on the river. Very close to Reichstag and museum island. Underground very close.
Super hotel. Very clean and well kept. Despite being close to the lifts didn't hear any noise at all.

Great hotel in central location

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Location and friendly staff.
Cons: Breakfast is a fantastic spread but is a bit pricey at €25 each.
Location: Boat trip on River Spree; Reichstag, Museum Island. Jewish Museum by underground train from Friedrichstrasse station.
A superb location for tourism. A smart and immaculately clean hotel just north of Friedrichstrasse station. You can walk east to Museum Island along the river (15 minutes max) or walk west to the Reichstag. Room 316 was so peaceful (looks over an inner courtyard so no road noise at all). Tourist desk in Reception can sell you a "Museum card" or other tourist pass. I borrowed a kettle and 2 cups from the hotel (I emailed in advance to request this) which was helpful.

Convenient hotel close to river in Berlin

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Staff were friendly and restaurant and tapas bar both a good standard of food and service.
Cons: Tea and coffee facilities in the room would be good but we know that is not standard in european cities.
Location: Close to Reichstag, museums, designer shopping, river cruise, cathedral.
hotel was in a good location close to Friedrichstrasse station for airport express. Berlin is spread out but there were many places to visit near this hotel within walking distance.

Excellent Hotel

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: The rooms were excellent ask for one on a high floor overlooking the river.
Location: Visit museum island, queue for tickets to the Reichstag but be prepared to wait for an hour plus but it worth the wait, the views are spectacular.
The Melia Berlin was an excellent choice for a long weekend. We checked in early but our room wasn't ready until 3pm, we went for a walk and returned later to be given our room card, it was room 650, we were surprised that it had a great view of the bridge and the river Spree, the room itself was of a good size for a European hotel and even though it was two single beds when we asked them it was made up as a double bed. We found that all the staff were happy to chat and gave us information on the attractions and a map with everything highlighted. Berlin is a must place to visit as there is so much to see, we will definitely go back again.
