Shame there is no restaurant for evening diningPosted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Comfortable, spacious room, excellent aircon, good breakfast, friendly staff, reasonable bar prices for a hotel
Cons: Restaurant could open for lunches and evening meals like most other Mercure hotels I have stayed at
Location: Checkpoint Charlie literally on the doorstep, Loads of good restaurants nearby, Tube station close
Stayed here for three nights from 5th Sept 2014. Room was large and spacious, very clean and comfortable. I particularly liked that the aircon (It was 20 deg outside at night) had a fan control so you could turn it down (Quiet) and still have a comfortable night at your set temperature. The Breakfast was good but not the best I've had and it was disappointing that the restaurant was not open for lunch or evening meals. There were, however, plenty of excellent restaurants in the immediate area. the position of the Hotel was great. 5 mins easy stroll to the STADMITTE underground station and literally around the corner from Checkpoint Charlie where you can catch the site seeing bus for a city tour and back. All in all I had a very enjoyable stay and would use this hotel again.

A hotel worth crossing Checkpoint Charlie for!Posted Sep 2, 2014
The mercure hotel more than met my expectations. From the polite and hospitable staff who were more than helpful, the room was spacious, clean and was of a high standard. The breakfast seem to cater for everyone, ranging from cereals to cold meats. The hotel is right around the corner from checkpoint Charlie and the subway station stadtmitte. It is also not far away from the Gendarmenmarkt, German Cathedral, Potsdamer Platz ,Brandenburg Gate and museum island. The Wifi was a little weak in the hotel room, but overall a wonderful and pleasant experience from a hotel which I would recommend to anybody.

overall good hotel but experienced drawbacksPosted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Cleanness, room facilities & room service
Cons: I will avoid a 2 story space/suite like the one I had
Location: Close to checkpoint Charlie & approx. 5 min. walking distance to Gendarmenmarkt square
Although I booked a regular room I received what they called a "suite", which was actually a 2 story space: bed & bathroom in the upper lever, and mini kitchen, sitting corner, desk & closet in the lower level. The inner staircase was steep & some of the stairs were also very narrow - luckily I didn't fall down. The suite was very clean, facilities were all in place & room service was fine, but I did find this 2 story arrangement to be very inconvenient. Hotel in conveniently located, although I would have preferred being closer to Stadtmitte subway station, were you have both U2 & U6 lines. The stuff at the reception was pleasant, polite & willing to help, but when I checked in they should have allowed me to have a regular room - which is what I ordered, instead of just assigning to the 2 story space.

5 days in BerlinPosted Aug 8, 2014
On arrival we were told by the friendly receptionist that we had been given a free room upgrade and that we would be very pleased with it - she was right! It was more like an apartment, huge, with 2 tv's, sitting room area and separate kitchen/breakfast room and a large balcony. Staff were always friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and clean (although they don't clean under the bed!) and the bathroom was also good, although the toilet being separate and the other side of the sitting room was inconvenient. The hotel is very conveniently situated for Checkpoint Charlie (just round the corner) and within easy walking distance of all Berlin's main attractions such as the Jewish Museum, Brandenburg Gate, River Spree etc. Lots of dining options also in the area, from Italian restaurants to McDonalds and lots in between. Highly recommended.

Central HotelPosted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Great Central location. Very good breakfasts. Good staff, very friendly. Very good Hoteland would be happy to stay there again.
Cons: Did not like the smell of smoke in the passage way on our floor (2). This let the Hotel down.
Location: Near Check Point Charlie. Good place to begin sight seeing of city - lots to see nearby.
Very happy time there, and great location. Lots of good eating paces close by.

Nice hotel and perfect locationPosted Jul 26, 2014
Pros: Location Room size comfort
Location: Great location close to loads of things to do
We had the 2 bedroom suite which was ideal for the family. The location of the hotel is great with only a few minutes walk to Checkpoint Charlie. It's also a short walk to the subway so getting to anywhere in Berlin was easy. The room was large and comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. The bar stocked some very enjoyable German beers. We didn't eat in the hotel as 18 Euros each for breakfast seem a bit expensive but there are lots of coffee shops near by to get something. There is also a supermarket just 5 minutes walk away. All in all a great hotel in a great city!
