Clean, quiet, convenient - but unserviced

Posted Apr 27, 2014
Pros: Clean, quiet, convenient, inexpensive
Cons: Beds made daily, toilet paper reliably stocked.
Location: Heart of Schoeneberg, 2 mins from S-Bahn station, 10 mins from the very centre of Berlin. Above Aldi, near lots of great restaurants, very safe area
If you want a clean, comfortable room in quiet surroundings very inexpensively, this place is great. You just need to be aware of the drawbacks. The rooms have no bathrooms, so you use shared facilities. These are clean and there are enough - but don't try to use both the showers in one of the shower rooms, because only one gets hot water at a time. Our beds were made the first day - then never again. Toilet paper was restocked daily - until Sunday, when it wasn't and ran out. I only met a staff member once - and he was very pleasant and friendly. But there is no desk and all communication is via telephone - which isn't answered when the toilet paper runs out! But oddly we liked this place - no drafts, bugs or noise, and a fridge to keep snacks in.

Nice, but...

The location of the place is great, close to shops and train (S-Bahn). The room was good. However, this "hotel" is more like holiday appartments. There is no reception and no breakfast, with limited self-catering facilities (fridge and microwave, no kitchen sink) and cimmunal bathrooms/showers. There's free wifi and TV in the room, and there is daily cleaning. It is a nice place to stay in and it offers good value for money, just be aware that it is a bit mislabled as "pension", which usually means B&B in Germany.

Excellent value for money

Pros: Location and access to public transport system.
Cons: The showers need some minor repairs.
Location: Close to shopping and public transport.
A good choice of hostel. Spacious clean rooms. Located close to S-Bahn station with short joirney into the city centre (also on same line to visit Potsdam). Also close to shopping centre.
