Best value hotel in Europe

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: What really makes this hotel are the staff. They are so helpful. Nothing seems to be a problem.
Cons: The fittings are a little bit tired but the rooms are spacious, everything works as it should and honestly it's all that you need.
Location: The main upmarket shopping district, the zoo and the aquarium are nearby but even better is the Wittenbergplaz U-line which connects to all of Berlin.
I have stayed in this hotel twice now and I can say without doubt that it is the best value for money I've found in all of Europe.

Good all round hotel

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Excellent hotel staff on both front desk and bar, good location next to the Zoo and train station. Only two things let this hotel down, the strange smell in the bathroom and lack of air con.

Simple hotel in a great location

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: Good price. Good, central location
Cons: Install additional power sockets next to the bed and the desk
Location: Breakfast at the market on Wittenbergplatz or KaDeWe, shopping at Kurfuerstendamm, visit the zoo or aquarium, ...
The room was spacious and clean, not very quiet but OK. Staff friendly. The breakfast buffet was OK but overpriced in my opinion; I'd recommend to get something on the daily market on nearby Wittenbergplatz instead. Great location. The main disadvantage was a lack of power sockets: the room had only one (next to the door) which is very limiting if you're trying to work with your computer.

Good central hotel, near U-bahn.

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Near U-bahn and well-stocked supermarket, both just round the corner. Only 10 minutes walk from the Zoo Garten station.
Cons: As with most continental hotels, no tea/coffee making facilities. Although it was not hot when we were there in June, I do not think it has aircon.
Location: Centrally located, less than 5 minutes walk from U-bahn. Berlin is a large city, and so you are bound to use public transport for seeing the sights.
Large comfortable room with a well-equipped bathroom. The hotel does not match up to their brochure description, but, having said that, it was really excellent value for money. Breakfast, at 13 euros, is overpriced, but there are several local cafes offering breakfasts for 5 euros or so.

City centre hotel

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff Firm beds Convenient location
Location: Across the road from Ka De We - the winter garden restaurant on the 7th floor has the most divine cakes.
I have stayed at the hotel before, it is moments from Wittenbergplatz U bahn and about 20 minutes to Zoogarten, and the S bahn and regional trains. (Zoo has the X109 bus to/from Tegel and the train (RE14) to Schonefeld. We serve looking for a basic hotel for a long weekend. I can't comment much on the food, we only ate one meal in the hotel, in the bar, which I thought was pleasant and reasonable value for a hotel meal. The room was basic. But we knew that when we were booking. Clean linen, enough cost hangers, good pressure in the shower. Only one pillow each. Individual duvets on a double bed. The fabric of the room is a bit jaded, occasional chips etc to the woodwork or bathroom tiling but not enough to spoil the trip.

Great staff, good price--hotel a bit shabby

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: Staff are very nice; location is great, price is great.
Cons: Air conditioning needed!
Location: Right next to the Witterbergplatz U-bahn and Kaufhaus des Westens department store; on bus line that goes to Unter den Linden.
This hotel is in a convenient location and the staff are very nice. Unfortunately during my stay it was quite hot, and without a/c my room was boiling. Also there is construction going on next door, beginning every morning at 7am sharp. If you're willing to rough it a bit, this hotel will do; if you want to be comfortable (particularly when it is hot outside), this one isn't for you.

Very basic room no extras.

We're American travelers and pretty adventurous we've stayed in rooming houses in Paris and other small hotels. The limited room and service of this hotel was a surprise. We booked this hotel for a five night stay. The room has the basic fixtures you would expect from a European hotel; private water closet with sink, toilet and shower. Shower was user friendly with a tile bench for seating if needed. Room had Euro queen bed (2 doubles side by side) and tv. Only one of our windows opened; you can tilt them in for security or swing them wide. To get a good cross breeze required the room door blocked open. Berlin was in the 30s the days we were there and no a/c on the 6th floor was rough. A fan made the room much more comfortable (not included, Media Mart in nearby mall). Off street and underground parking (tight spaces) was avalible for a fee of 18 € per day. For the price we had expect higher quality of hotel. Only one Internet account was include a second account available for a fee. Breakfast was also an additional fee. But there is good local options close by for half price. Hotel is inexpensive but don't expect a deal.

Dear Guests, thank you very much for your summary of your experience. Please let us comment as follows: we do offer different room categories with different types of beds. A fan is provided free of charge upon request. To highlight our breakfast we would just like to remark that there is salmon, sparkling wine, 9 different warm dishes and also 12 different types of tea. All provided for an extra of EUR 13,00. We do believe that this is a great deal. Once again we thank you for your suggestions. Kind Regards from Berlin, the Management

Great location

Posted Jun 8, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Lots of comments about the Wi-Fi and it hasn't improved. You have to sign a disclaimer at the desk and get a password only valid on one device.
Second time I have been here and the location is great just 50 meters from the U-Bahn station at Wittenbergplatz so really good base to get around. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the area and only 5 minutes to one of the main shopping areas. Huge breakfast served until 11.

Convenient for the U Bahn.

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: Good breakfast. Very good location. Staff were very helpful and knowledgable regarding directions to locations in Berlin.
Cons: Coffee making facility in the room would be good.
Location: Close to the U Bahn station and within walking distance of the Zoo and the Tiergarten. Nice cafés nearby and a massive department store.
Good hotel for the money.Rooms were clean and well decorated No mini bar in the room. Not too noisy considering the German cup final was on in Berlin and a lot of fans were staying at the hotel. Cocktails were very good value during happy hour.
