Great Location, Good Size, but some big drawbacks

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: Location, price, size of apartment
Cons: Beds that can be converted between double and single. Sliding doors or other doors between bedroom and lounge. Curtains on the lounge windows.
Location: It's basically gay central. And easy walking distance to Nollendorfplatz metro to head east (to Mitte, Alexanderplatz etc) or west (Kurf'damm, zoo).
I booked one of the apartments for a group of 4 including myself. It was listed on Expedia as offering 4 single beds. And the price and location were ideal given it was Gay Pride weekend in Berlin. Price and location are certainly positive. There was plenty of room for four of us, and for a big group of friends to come in for some pre-drinks. Our apartment was set back from the road and faced an internal courtyard which was pretty quiet (except a few tweeting birds that woke up at the crack of dawn!). But the stay and apartment were let down by 3 things: 1) Despite it stating 4 single beds it was 2 double beds. The hotel receptionist/manager was not apologetic and did not offer any solutions or compensation. I, stupidly, didn't push very hard on the issue. We worked around this (they were very wide double beds!) but it wasn't ideal. 2) The 2nd bedroom links directly to the lounge and is fully open plan (i.e. no doors). This could be an issue 3) Related to this, the fact there were no curtains to the lounge meant the 2nd bedroom was VERY light VERY early. Luckily, we were drunk enough to sleep through this, but otherwise it would have been an issue. So if you are looking for a party pad for a weekend, its OK, especially if you are 2 couples. But it is let down by poor quality service (which seems to be a more general Berlin problem) and a poor 2nd bedroom.

Such a horrible and scary experience

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: First off. They could have told Expedia that they were going to be under construction before I booked the hotel. They had ample time to call me.
Location: Just wanted to get out of that scary room.
It was suggested that I send along my photos that support my complaint against Tom's Hotel in Berlin: Itinerary # 752578697661. For the first two nights (Saturday & Sunday) they put me in this derelict apartment under construction that was around the corner from their main hotel. There was construction material everywhere. It was freezing and construction started at 8am in the morning. I was horrified that I had to stay here. After 12 hours of flying to get to Berlin, I did not have the energy to consider alternatives. The next day I could not find an affordable alternative under such short notice. After two nights they moved me to their main Hotel which was acceptable. I am only asking to be refunded for the first two nights.
