I had to book this hotel very last minute. I didn’t have a chance to read the many reviews stating that they don’t have heating or hot water in some of the rooms. Unfortunately, I was not able to stay in a place that doesn’t have heating or hot water in the city that can get as cold as Berlin.

I recently stayed in this hotel and I was traveling solo. In contrary to some of the reviews my stay was really good. Here is what I liked and what need some TLC: Convenient location: It’s not in central Berlin, however I got a great rate for the room so I gave it a try. It’s about 10 min walking from Bornhomer Stranbe train station which is about 6 stops from Brandenburger Tor (center). I still have it fresh in memory because I was just there a few days ago. In terms of safety, I don’t think I’ll navigate the area at night by myself but that is usually everywhere I go by myself. This area was populated mostly with middle eastern people from what I saw so this is what the food choices mostly are like Arab,Turkish etc. If you don’t want the hassle of traveling, book something closer to central. For me it was fine as I was using the public transportation all day long. If you are in a budget, this is a great option as the conditions were excellent/spacious room etc. TLC: The hotel needs some updates like the entrance glass needs fixing/the elevator was taking a little longer as it’s only one. If I find another great deal, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Kudos to reception: very polite

I booked a double room in middle of February 2024, and was at first shocked at the somewhat dilapidated entrance with bordered up windows. However, once we walked in to the main lobby, it felt like a cosy place to stay. The room was simple, elegant with a high ceiling, and well equipped save for the lack of an electric kettle. The breakfast buffet was widespread and delicious, which acted as a great start to our day in Berlin

The service, location, cleanliness and hospitality is simply spectacular particularly after having been through such a terrible and frightening experience with OCAK APARTMENT AND HOTEL BERLIN where I stayed for 4 days. I was looking forward to a European hotel experience and what i got was horrific. You will never go wrong with a US hotel, for sure. I am going back to Berlin this May and will definitely book at Wyndham. Thank you for such a friendly and welcoming experience, Wyndham!

I think it could be improved by the addition of a kettle to the room. We had a number of fans and a fridge, but nowhere to make a drink.

So I got this at a knock down price and as such can't really complain too much. I'd read some pretty bad reviews but I would say "it's fine". The rooms are a decent size if a bit dated with some questionable quality fittings in places. No air con in the lowest category of room which was tough in the summer heat. The rooms were clean enough and quite comfortable otherwise. Nice shady yard. Facilities felt a bit of an afterthought, for instance the fitness room was hidden with an ironing room and also wasn't air conditioned. Area is fine in terms of transport links but not much to do locally.

The air-conditioning in our room didnt work, we contacted the front desk and the issue was never addressed. The front desk man was grumpy and had the charisma of a wet tea towel. Over priced for the standard of what they deliver.

Hotel needs completely new management
There were several issues with the hotel. The first one is that the AC did not work on a very hot day. There was no efforts by the hotel to repair the AC. The parking which was with 17 euros a day rather expensive, as it was a ruin of a former manufacturing site, did occasionaly not work. It showed at the gate that parking is full. When I called the hotel they they said first I should get a parking space on the street, knowing that there is usually not one space available . Only after insisting to get a place as a guest the hotel admitted me manually by pushing open the gate. It turns out the lot was less than half filed. At the reception desk I got the answer that happens rather often, as the they have cards out that give the system a wrong number so the electronic system over counts. Covid regulations were not kept or controlled at a dinner buffet, as guests got food without masks.

OK stay with some things lacking
We came a family of 5, three generations, for 3 separate rooms. My grandparents who have issues standing and walking was missing some utilities in their room, mostly for the shower (my grandfather is missing half a leg and didn't have anything to assist him in the shower). My own room never got a turndown, whilst my parents room got every night. It wasn't a big problem as I was by myself and only spent the time in the room for sleep. The rooms were fine, some a bit tight for free space, but for each of us it was OK. Staff was friendly and helpful (during the stay), and there was a nice outside sitting area we could all be together at, to cool a little bit for the very warm weekend. It was close to the tram which connected nicely to the S/U bahns, which was nice for my grandmother who can't walk too long. Breakfast buffet was great with a great selection. We ate at the "restaurant" one night, with a limited selection, but food was OK. Private parking was fine, so we didn't have to worry about the car, and just take the public transportation and taxi.
