Nice hotel on the beach

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: Location is fantastic on the South Shore beaches. Friendly staff. Free WIFI -best first thing in the morning and at dinner - when it is not over-used
Cons: Update rooms - refresh the comforters, pillows, etc.
Location: Close to Hamilton, Botanical Gardens, on the beach.
A relaxing stay for a couple of days. The rooms are comfortable. It's nice to have a small refrigerator. There is a grocery store close by and you can get what you need, including alcohol. The bus stop is at the main street or you can cab it into Hamilton for about $12.00. The beach is right there so you don't have to travel anywhere if you don't want to. The boiler reefs are a great spot to see many different kinds of fish, in particular, the parrot fish. The water is still quite comfortable - around 24.5*C, the air temperatures were around 27*C. The pool is heated if you don't like the ocean. It's not crowded this time of year which is nice wherever you go.

Great hotel.

Posted Nov 12, 2014
We stayed for 4 nights and found the hotel perfect. Not too fancy and we had a beach front room with a spectacular view. Staff was friendly and accommodating and we were an easy walk to the bus. Would definitely stay there again.

All about location!!

Posted Nov 10, 2014
We stayed here Nov. 6-9, which is the beginning of their off-season, so the hotel was not crowded at all. Overall this hotel was an excellent value for what we paid.....about $200/night including taxes and fees. The hotel lobby is very nice. The hotel overall could use some updating as little things are in need of repair; however, the hotel was very clean and the front desk was very helpful. The beach is just steps away from most of the rooms and Elbow Beach and its water is beautiful! On the main road leading up to the hotel is a diner type restaurant (we ate breakfast there twice), a small super market, and the bus stops. The menu at the hotel restaurants looks good, but we did not eat there....we actually ate dinner once and lunch once at the resort next door (Elbow Beach Resort), which you can access from the beach. Bermuda has nicer hotels/resorts, but you will pay for them. If you want a swimmable beach at your hotel....options are very limited on Bermuda and this place has it!

nice hotel right on beach

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: It was okay and we had stayed there before. Good central location between st George & Hamilton.
Cons: Some more up keep
Location: Elbow beach and in middle of island.
I think it needs some more upkeep. I asked for key for safe & they didn't have one for my room. No light in closet as well kind of dark.

We had lower level room with patio facing the ocean. Views were terrific, beach beautiful, and the serenade from the tree frogs every night was music to my ears!

DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR ROOM

Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: bar & pool area beautiful dinner@Coca Reef was excellent the chef & his team outstanding, great food presentation & tasty-cost is good too.
Cons: due to the cost of upgrade which we should not have paid for we should have at least got a meal and/or drinks to make up for the additional cost.
Location: great location for taxi's to go to Hamilton..the walk to the food store is short. Anyone staying there should have dinner at the Coca Reef resturanto
BOOKED THE VACATION @ COCO REEF IN MARCH, 2014 AND DID AN UPGRADE FOR TWO ROOMS....NO NEED TO PAY FOR AN UPGRADE BECASUE ALL THE ROOMS FACE THE OCEAN AND ALL THE ROOMS ARE THE SAME. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! DON;'T BE DISAPPOINTED LIKE WE WERE.

Beautiful beach front location!

Posted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, delicious full breakfast included with our rate, clean, tropical rooms with a very comfortable bed, and the location on the beach.
Cons: A shuttle bus for transportation to and from the airport and a shuttle bus several times a day to town. But bus service was pretty regular.
Location: Other than the beach, most of the island attractions are a 20-30 minute taxi ride or bus ride away. There was a grocery market down the street.
The hotel lobby and rooms were beautiful and tropical. Every room has an ocean view. Our room was only a staircase away from the beach. A nice lawn with coconut trees framed our view of the surf. The location on the south shore provides the best beach access. Our 4 night stay happened to be during Hurricane Fay, so transportation around the island was limited. But that allowed us to be "stranded" on the beautiful, pink, sandy beach for a whole day without feeling like we were missing sight-seeing! Hamilton, St. George's, and Dockyard are bus rides away.

Nice place, friendly enough people, but overall...

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The view, the lack of people, and the beach proximity.
Cons: Wifi!
Location: Do what everyone says and walk to the "Modern Mart", which is just over the hill, out the entrance, and to the right. Stock your fridge and save $$$!
My wife and I just spent a few days here for our 15th anniversary. We had never been to Bermuda, and we were shocked by the prices of pretty much everything. I'm sure we shouldn't have been, since everything clearly has to come a LONG way to get there, but be ready for that. To give you a sense of this hotel, it's something of the quality that would command maybe $89-99/night in a midwestern town in the US. Obviously the beach is the big draw, and the view out of our window was just outstanding. The room was basically clean, and it did have everything that we needed. I'm not complaining--we enjoyed our time--I'm just being honest about what you should expect. The pool was nice, and the view of the sea from the pool deck (and really most of the resort) was terrific. The biggest gripe I had was the incredibly, PAINFULLY slow wifi. GEEEEZ....it's 2014, and I had trouble loading a simple web page. ESPN and Netflix video players just chuckled when we tried to open them. They wouldn't come close to launching. Since we weren't there for the screen time, this was a low-level issue, but it is nice to feel connected when you want to, you know? While we were there Tropical Storm Fay came in and really made a huge mess of things. The islanders admitted they really hadn't taken it seriously enough on the way in, but they were cheery enough about cleaning it all up. Overall, the beach is nice, the hotel is fine, and the view is terrific.
