Awesome beach club !

Posted Jul 25, 2015
Pros: Beach Club , Ocean Club restaurant
Cons: dated ….feels like an old hotel …..which it is ( this used to be the Princess Hotel , but that is now in Hamilton
Location: drove moped up to the docklands , nice ride but docklands is a cruise ship tourist trap . Just explored all the Southhampton beaches , Jobsons Cove #1
This was our first time to Bermuda and stayed here two nights and two nights at the Fairmont Princess Hamilton downtown. This hotel is a beach paradise, though not ON the beach instead up on a hill overlooking a beautiful golf course. They do have a great shuttle that goes back and forth to the private beach all day . The beach is just beautiful ! and right next door is the famous Horseshoe beach which is always rated in the top 10 beaches in the world. The Fairmont Oceanclub beach also has a nice outdoor seafood restaurant at night . By day , the restaurant serves the continental breakfast that comes with most stays . The rooms are very spacious and have a walk in closet. Very clean and comfy. The hotel itself is a bit dated , but then again there are only 5 or 6 full service hotels in Bermuda so the choices are slim and expensive. The two Fairmont hotels and the Rosewood are the best choices . The beaches in Southampton are the nicest …. we went from point to point in Bermuda on our moped to see it all. By the way , the only mode of transportation for tourists in Bermuda is expensive taxis ( budget 100$ round trip to airport ) , city buses ( which are very cheap and safe wherever you go in Bermuda ) and the popular moped's ( about 80$ for 24hour use ) . No rental cars are available in Bermuda …..streets are too narrow , and they drive on the opposite side of the street ….so I get it . Overall the hotel was very nice , safe , pool ok , restaurants ok , beach awesome !

Our Stay

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: Just about everything. its not cheap, but thats the price you pay.
Cons: Not much, honestly.
Location: Bermuda and Hamilton have some nightlife, just not alot of it, or craziness...which is nice. Just enough to enjoy without it getting messy and stupid.
Other than the fact that they did not place us in our room until 4pm std check in time ( and it was definitely ready before that), I would say the staff, hotel, etc was super excellent. Breakfast buffet was fantastic service until it got really full. Then they were less than perfect, but not bad. Prices are high at the hotel but they seem to be everywhere on Bermuda. The 17% auto added gratuity was actually fine at this hotel and most of the places we visited because the service was up to par. The beach shuttle could not have been any faster or easier and I have to tell you, Bermudans are probably, as a whole, some of the most friendly and helpful people I have ever met. Its a happy place. The hotel beach is awesome and immediately adjacent to Horseshoe bay beach which everyone want to see as well. We will defintely go back.

Exceeded expectations

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Convenience, views, nice people, better than expected food.
Cons: The concierges and service people need to have a better knowledge of what to do, where to go, etc...
Location: Conveniently located and most / all of what you need is self-contained in the complex. I would highly recommend taking a motor scooter for the day.
Great location with private beach. Convenient quick shuttle to get their. The restaurants, especially Bacci and Waterlot, are very good, better than I'd expect from typical hotel restaurants. Ocean Club, another restaurant, has exquisite views. I would stay away from Newport, their "gastropub". First off, Ive never experienced a gastropub that doesn't have a bar. Secondly, the room has a horrible feel - like a banquette hall. Not sure exactly what they were going for there. The people working there are very nice, although at times lacking in information you'd think they'd know. Especially when staying on the Gold floor, you expect a certain level of knowledge and expertise. Also, if you're a golfer, be aware that the course is all Par 3's. That said, we had a great time and would return.

Pricey but worth it.

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: everything
Cons: TV service. TV takes 30 s. to boot up when you turn it on and 10 s. to change channels. Some channels have audio and no video Don't charge for wi-fi.
I stayed at the Southhampton 25 years ago, when it was part of the Princess chain, and now, when it has become a Fairmont Hotel and it has only gotten better. After selecting the cheapest room available on Expedia, I had a large, well furnished room with a very comfortable bed and a nice view. All of the restaurants on the property are excellent. The Waterlot Inn, which is an old, storied steak house served me one of the best prime filets I've ever had in my life. The hotel staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The Southhampton offers acomplimentary shuttles across The Great Sound to Hamilton three times a day and the public buses have stops near the hotel so getting anywhere is easy. Don't rent a scooter unless you're an excellent rider; traffic is heavy and lack of expertise in handling a scooter and driving on the left-hand side of the road can be dangerous. Don't take cabs; they are very expensive. Go on the internet to find shuttle services to take you from airport to hotel and back. I used CEO Transport, $15 each way; taxi is $50 each way. Finally, go online and join the fairmont President's Club before you go. This will entitle you to free wi-fi and other amenities while you stay; otherwise you pay $12/day for wi-fi. My week's stay, air fare, hotel, food, drinks, etc. cost me just over 5 grand, but it was well worth it.

Beautiful beach

Posted Jul 15, 2015
Beautiful beach, renovated room. Rest of hotel and pool are dated. Had a great time. Really enjoyed the par 3 golf near the water. Food good all around.
