It was ok. I was only there for 1 night. There isn't much in the area to do for food or drinks after 9pm. The pool and the view are nice though.

Surf Side SerenityPosted Sep 26, 2013
We've discovered Surf Side on our 13th visit to Bermuda. Lucky 13! We are independent travellers who are comfortable taking care of ourselves and found this to be the a lovely base to explore and enjoy the wonders of Bermuda. The staff responds quickly to every request. While the decor is "dated", it is clean and romantic in an old-style fashion. The kitchen is supplied with an array of cooking tools. The balcony views are some of the best on the island! The pool is clean and comfortable with sun or palms and porticos for shade. The beautiful landscaping is a haven for nature as well as a visual delight. After staying in everything from luxury resorts, to B&B's, to apartments on Bermuda, we'd say that Surf Side is one of the last, true, serene Bermuda escapes. You are walking distance to restaurants and gas. You are within 5 mins. of Elbow Beach Resort's elegance, moped rental, and the South Shore beach cornocopia. It's an easy drive to Hamilton. You are essentially in the middle of it all, yet peacefully above "it" all (the magnificent coast/sea) for a fraction of the cost of larger, pretentious options. What you will not have is a swimable beach, on-site restaurant or sundry shop, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, or Frette linens. What you will have is simply tranquil.

Very Disappointing!Posted Sep 11, 2013
Pros: The ocean views.
Cons: Rent only the upgraded or best rooms; not those with defects. Include at least 1 free meal in the rates. Get an interior decorator to get ideas.
Location: The beaches, 1 or 2 restaurants.
I would not recommend this hotel. My room needed serious upgrading in many ways, from furniture to drapes. It is a beautiful location and needs a bit of work which would be worth the investment and visitors will return or refer the hotel to other visitors.

Can't get better than thisPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: View and location.
Cons: Upgrade the TVs to flat screens.
Location: Beaches are close; Hamilton too.
If you want to wake up to the ocean right outside your room with a breathtaking view, then look no further. Surf side is conveniently located close to the south shore beaches and Hamilton. Rooms are spacious, and the pool is steps away overlooking the ocean. You won't find a better deal this close to the ocean in all of Bermuda. Totally recommend it.

Great views, private beach.Posted Sep 6, 2013
Cons: The shower drain was very slow. We did report to the management.
Location: Beach is steps away. The Swizzle Inn is walking distance, just like a gaz station, for your scooter.
Very cozy resort-style hotel, right on the beach (about 75 steps down, to be more precise!) No bar, nothing grandiose like a chandelier in the lobby, but simply nice and cozy with a balcony with splendid views!

Amazing sea viewPosted Aug 29, 2013
Pros: Sea view, kitchen
Cons: General decoration of rooms is not 5*, but you are not paying anywhere near 5* prices of $800 per night.
Self catering facilities available. Stunning sea view. Swimming pool on site, but closest beach has been washed away this year. Pick up a moped (you can't hire cars in Bermuda) and head out to explore Elbow beach, John Smiths Bay and Horseshoe bay.

A nice placePosted Aug 15, 2013
Cons: The wifi and internet connection
If you want quiet and secluded, this is the place for you. If you want to be in the action this is not the place for you. The rooms are very old style but just as functional as modern rooms. All we needed was a place to sleep and shower and this worked perfectly. Don't count on internet as the wifi is only available at the front desk or the pool. It is slower than dial up and drops out often. There is a small beach but you have a 10 minute walk down a steep pathway and climbing over rocks. There is a gas station within a 5 minute walk that has a very good hot food buffet, coffee, mini-mart and incidentals. The Swizzle Inn is a 10 minute further walk if you want drinks/food. To get anywhere else, you will need to take the bus or a taxi. There is a bus stop at the end of their driveway. Overall a very pretty place that meets your needs.

private oasis in paradisePosted Aug 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel is not for everyone. If you are looking for an all inclusive disney style vacation go to one of the other hotels that are clones the world over. A short walk takes you to an amazing pink sand beach that most of the tourists have not found - it is truly like finding you own private Paradise. The hotel pool though small is amazing with breathtaking views. If you are looking to hide away & truly take a break this is the place to go!
