Exceptional ocean view from deckPosted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: View and spacious rooms
Cons: In need of renovations but cannot match the ocean view
Location: Good location, convenience store and nice Restaurent walking distance
Very satisfied overall....the view is really one of the best, something out of a movie at a much cheaper rate than other hotels, likely because it is older.

Lost in the 1970sPosted Jul 23, 2015
Pros: Great location a bit of a struggle to get down to beach because of hurricane damage.
Location: Not really. On bus route conveniently but staff ignorant as to time buses ran?
Poor maintenance chipping paint "king" bed only two twin pushed together. Long past its Conde Nast glory days. Disappointing to say the least. Walking back up drive from bus stop on main road dangerous after dark. No lights, fork in road uneven surface. Split in road has Spanish Bayonet palms planted in between.

Great LocationPosted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: The Surf Side is a charming hotel. The staff is very nice and its wonderful to have a private beach. It's a beautiful location.
Cons: Its a shame they closed the restaurant. Also, some small points of maintenance would be good. Out door wouldn't open all the way.
Location: It has a private beach, which comes and goes with water conditions. Its close to a few restaurants and not too far, by taxi or scooter, from Hamilton
We had a great time. It's a pretty hotel with good service but by no means a luxury hotel.

Charming old style Bermuda hotelPosted Jul 8, 2015
Pros: The location to some of the best beaches in Bermuda!
Cons: New sliders and winders. Fix the A/C
Location: The location is perfect! Close to the South Shore beaches, Hamilton and the lighthouse.
We visited Surf Side from July 3-7th and had a wonderful time. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The grounds were magnificent! It is in a great location close to the South Shore beaches, the lighthouse and Hamilton. It is a gem and I cannot wait to return. The sliders were difficult to open and our AC did not completely cool the room, but the ocean breeze cooled us right down at night!

Room with a view...and nothing else.Posted Jul 7, 2015
We were afraid to shower without wearing flip-flops, leave anything of any value inside the room since the safe was rusty and broken, or utilize the musty closet or ancient chest of drawers. Also, sleeping on the bed was best if you just didn't think about it too much. In addition, my wife was attacked by a flying roach on the doorstep. Good thing they provided us with a can of Raid in the room.

It's a good hotel but very dated.Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Clean and has a pool
Cons: Needs to be completely updated.
Location: Elbow beach hotel Coral beach hotel Horshoe bay.
Surf side is a good hotel if you are looking for a basic clean room in Bermuda. It's pretty much no frills but clean and in a good area. There is a pool and very nice beach. To get to the beach you have to follow a long path down the cliff. We stayed there for price alone. Everything else is soon expensive. We also never spend much time in the room so it's just for sleeping and showering after a fun day somewhere else. No breakfast and a small bubble tube TV. Maid service is weak at best. Paint is peeling off building and water pressure in the showers is weak too...but hey who cares when you are out all day and night.

Great views. Great location.Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pleasant, helpful staff. Clean room. "Private beach access" claim is exaggerated. It is small and a bit of a hike. Facilities not in prestige condition, but we had a very nice overall experience.

Great location on the south shorePosted Jun 12, 2015
Pros: The location was good but some distance from tourist attractions and restaurants. Necessary to take a bus or taxi. Staff was friendly and helpful
Cons: Painting the outside would help and new furniture is definitely necessary
Location: Nice location with great ocean views Necessary to travel to attractions and restaurants.
Location was great but hotel was rundown and shabby. Paint peeling on the outside and old worn furniture on the inside. It was kept clean and the grounds were well kept, but the building and the rooms need a serious upgrade.
