Beach lost to hurricane.

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: The location is fabulous with helpful staff and priceless views. It is a pleasure to wander through the meticulous gardens and see some treasures.
Cons: cleanliness and communication about the state of the beach.
Location: the beach (though currently missing) is a treasure. The hotel is a short scooter ride to all of bermuda's treasures.
surfside is by far my favourite place to stay in Bermuda. I was disappointed upon arrival to see that the beach had been washed away by Hurricane Gonzalo. I would have appreciated the hotel notifying me as I was planning a beach party. I have stayed at Surside many times, but for the first time it was not clean. The staff were still fantastic and very accommodating.

Beautiful view. Can't be beat.

This is an older hotel, more rustic. We stayed in one of the cottages. I liked it. Bed was uncomfortable and their idea of a king size bed was comical, 2 twin beds pushed together. Unfortunately, we were there when a catagory 2 hurricane hit island. Lost power to hotel, room flooded. Part of hotel on other side of complex had roof cave in. It was a mess. But, it was good until then. Not a resort feel but a cottage feel with a reasonable price tag .

Rooms and surroundings just awful. Little ziplock of coffee - have no idea how long it's been there. Filthy bathroom - rust holding the shower head together. Bed - on iron frame with box spring showing. Ancient cover and sheets. Flat pillows. Patio doesn't feel safe. Pool area disgusting. Looks like they cemented over a hot tub. Nothing maintained, looks like no one cares about this place at all.

Your own beautiful beach

Posted Aug 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
We really enjoyed the stay at Surf Side. The beach that belongs to the Hotel is absolutely beautiful. Everybody at the hotel was friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the apartments, which we thought was a plus, as the food/restaurant prices are very steep in Bermuda... so occasionally we stayed in and prepared dinner from the fresh veggies and meat we bought in the nearby market and enjoyed our dinner on the balcony with an unbeatable view of the ocean. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, which is quite convenient to explore the island. You have to take a bus or rent a scooter, no matter where you stay in Bermuda. So in that sense, I don't think that there is a most convenient location. The hotel is simple, it's not a luxurious one, but it is well kept with a gorgeous view over the Atlantic. If you like to snorkel, there is a great variety of fish right off shore from your very own beach and coral reefs. We even saw a species on the verge of extinction (Parrotfish). To sum up, I think Surf Side is a very relaxing and quiet place to stay with beautiful vegetation and views. Thank you for your services! I would definitely go back to Surf Side again.

Stayed here before just need a good place to sleep Don't need all the extra. This motel provides that. If you are are looking for more go to a 800.00 dollar a night hotel. Has the best view

Run-down, beautiful view, ant infestation

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Beautiful view
Cons: Needs major repairs and extermination.
Location: Gas station close by for a few supplies. Swizzle South Shore within walking distance.
This hotel is run-down and outdated. It needs some major TLC. We had quite an ant infestation. We will not stay here again.

Is the View Worth It

Posted Aug 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
We've stayed at SurfSide before. The views are magnificent, the beach lovely. The rooms are large so when it rains and least there's breathing room. The kitchenette is good for small meals. The pool is small but nice. On the other hand, the resort is desperately in need of updating and maintenance. Service is sketchy. We had to carry our own bags to our rooms, ask for toilet paper and tissues whenever we were running low. I will say that when we did call about any issues (sticking door, leaking ac) we got very quick action. So we may or may not go back, we're looking for other options. The price is a lot less than other resorts on the island, but that makes sense since there is no restaurant or amenities other than the pool.
