Take time out on the Aare peninsula. In a central location away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, the hotel is on a small peninsula where only the gentle flowing of the River Aare can be heard. Rest a while in one of our well-equipped modern rooms and enjoy the innovative cuisine of our restaurants.The hotel has 700m2 of seminar rooms on 3 floors, equipped with modern and contemporary infrastructure. Our 66 hotel rooms with a total of 110 beds are modern and comfortably furnished with bath or shower, direct dial telephone, colour TV, radio, safe, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.

The gateway to the Bernese Oberland, Thun is easily reached by public transport. With rail connections from all corners of Switzerland, the Hotel Freienhof is 5-10 minutes on foot from the railway station, whilst Thun is only 20 minutes from Bern by car. Our garage has parking for up to 60 cars.

“Stayed for six nights. It was perfect for us.”

Perfect location; excellent front desk, housekeeping & restaurant staff. Breakfast included in rooom charge terrific value as Switzerland is very expensive. Freienhof Restaurant & Bar proved to be our favorite after we ate out for lunch & dinner six or seven times before we decided to stay for dinner at our hotel.

Traveler's tip
Breakfast included is a great value-added factor. Centrally located to everything including the CO-OP large market-department store around the corner that supplied anything we found we had forgotten at home at a good price.

“Highly recommended”

The area surrounding the hotel is more beautiful than the pictures capture, including the beautiful aqua river that the hotel sits on the bank of. Easy access to many beautiful mountain areas. Room was small but very comfortable. (Underground hotel parking for drivers.)
