“Perfect place to enjoy variety of Swiss Alps”

We like to hike and did three including the long hike at the Jungfraujoch(mandatory). Lauternbrunnen Valley leisurely stroll back to town from the waterfall(take the bus to the waterfall) but the best was gondola from Grindelwald to First and then hike to Grosse Scheidegg. have a nice meal at the restaurant and then hike down to Oberer Hotel or just catch the bus. Great way to end our trip to Switzerland. Trains are the way to go for sure. no rental car needed for our 10 days around Switzerland.

This is a meticulously managed establishment that will leave a lasting impression on all. We will return! Additionally: The hotel is wonderfully appointed in tasteful regional charm. Absolutely delightful! Several full size chalets with great views are also available to rent. Guest rooms are carefully prepared with the latest appointments, to include heated towel racks, heated tile bathroom floors, spacious closets, separate shower/toilet rooms. Full spa, sauna, and pool on site. Multilingual staff is present at all times, most speak several languages. A heated corridor links underground parking to the hotel. The lockable ski storage room is very spacious and has heated boot drying racks. A nice breakfast layout is served daily at the on site restaurant. Personalized morning tables will include a copy of the daily hotel newsletter. The hotel operates a ski shuttle van to and from the ski slopes each day. The train station is also just steps from the hotel. Free internet is available in the lobby. Deliberate thought is put into every detail of this hotel. We highly recommend a stay at this wonderful resort.

“Perfect Swiss Hotel - rivaled the mountain views”

Gorgeous hotel - extremely well maintained and appointed. Public areas were fantastic. The half board dinners were culinary art pieces -- six course beautifully presented. Service was impeccable. Owners were visible. This hotel is just off the main train station with beautiful views. The wellness center had four different sauna rooms and a "winter" room with "snow flakes". Perfect way to end a long day hiking. We are returning.

“Nice setting”

You can see the hotel as your train pulls into the little town of Grindelwald. Very convenient to Jungfrau and lots of day hikes. Set in a garden and not right on the street. Rooms were newly renovated, superior standard for 3 people opening to a patio with stunning view of Eiger.Request a room facing South! We did half board and had lovely meals. No A/c, so rooms could get stuffy as we were there during a warm spell. Pool, bowling alley and ping pong for kids. Spa and massage for grown ups. Staff was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English.

“Schweizerhof”

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the hotel. Traveling single, I had a lot of questions, and the staff at the desk fielded them all and were very helpful. The hotel is conveniently located about 3 minutes from the train station, so you do not have to walk far. The morning breakfast offered was a great way to start your day. I did eat at the hotel restaraunt one evening during my stay. The food was delicious. (I am more of a simple fare kind of person, so Iate in bars for dinner in town) However, I would return in the evening and have an after dinner coffee in the lounge. The only 'negative' is the bath. I am used totaking showers. You are offered a nice, deep tub. (great if you want to take a bath) There is a hand held shower attatchment, but manuevering and changing hands while cleaning made for a mess. Other than that, I was very satisfied with my stay. If I come back to Grindlewald, I would stay at the Schweizerhof again.

“mixed but mostly a good experience”

There are a good number of really nice features at this hotel - very friendly and accomodating service staff, absolutely central location, modern and roomy new suites. The food is also at a high standard. The breakfast is fine, with a good selection of bread and basic cheeses and hams. What is really nice is the offer to order eggs and espresso coffees. The main part of the hotel is very old-fashioned. Cosy, but also tired. There is a new sauna and steam area that is quite nice, but far too small for such a large hotel. And there are absolutely no facilities for children, except for a rundown, moldy area with a ping-pong table, billiard and a bowling alley.

“Cute little family owned hotel in the heart of the Alps.”

This hotel was very conveniently located, right in the heart of the Alps, and very close to the train stops. We took the half-board plan, with breakfast and dinner included. Breakfasts were very good and hearty but dinners became a bit boring until one of the waiters told us about the vegetarian menu. Best bet. Chambermaids were very stingy with soaps and towels. We had to keep asking for refills and new towels just about each morning. Charging for coffee after a dinner meal, which was included in the cost of our room, was very cheap. But overall, views from some of the rooms are outstanding and we did, for the most part, have a very pleasant time here. Would probably recommend.

“Good, but not great”

Beautiful hotel. Excellent restaurant and spa. Rooms leave much to be desired. They're small, dark, and the furniture is too basic.

“Hotel was in a great position”

Hotel is in a great position however some of the staff leave alot to be desired. They were very arrogant. Not to mention their "internet" not being available as they had a conference in house - so the rest of us had to miss out getting emails etc. It is a really nice Hotel, but the rooms need updating badly...
