This was our first hotel we stayed at during our 2-1/2 week trip to Europe. We knew from many other reviews of hotels in Europe that they would be small. The room was not the smallest we stayed in, the bathroom pretty tight, the shower especially small. The staff was wonderful. Julian was great when we arrived, helped us get parked (free) and gave us some info on restaurants in town. The following morning we had a good breakfast and the lady at the desk (cannot remember her name) was extremely helpful to us trying to get info on a tour. She even called them for us and found out thier opening times. Overall staff was excellent. Enjoyed the one night.

This was a last minute booking as the hotel we had booked was disgusting. What a great find. The staff were very helpful and the rooms comfortable. A short walk over the river into the town revealed a great place to explore. We will definitely go back.

We were delayed on our journey so missed the check in time. We called the staff there and they couldn`t have been more helpful in making sure we could get in and left a key for us. Excellent service for the money we paid.

We were quite disappointed with the Valentin. We stopped there year's ago before it was upgraded and we liked it then. The room's are ok but not very comfortable. We travel every year to Italy so we have stopped many times in Campanile hotel's and we hope they do not upgraded them like the one at Besancon. The menu was good with a variety of dishes. The staff were very friendly and courteous.

Building and decor are a bit tired, it is called the Kyriad Hotel and Restaurant but was told on check-in that the restaurant was closed. No reason given just closed on a Saturday night.
The room was reasonable but the aircon pushed out hot air and when I told reception the answer was that there was nobody to look at it and they had no other rooms available. We were then subjected to all the lights on the A/C control panel flashing all night, could not turn them off, I guess this is what it does when it is faulty.
Curtains in the room were hanging off the hooks and whe whole place looks uncared for.
I know it is cheap but there are better places to stay than this - don't bother.
