Smoke in the room and bugs

I requested a non smoking room and while it clearly stated on the door to the room that it was a non smoking room, it was clear to my nose that some inconsiderate jerk had been in there smoking. As I was sitting at the desk working on my computer, I saw a worm crawling up the wall. Being from Florida I am used to seeing the occasional critter in the house no matter how clean you keep it. I squished it and flushed it. Less than 15 minutes later I saw another one. 3 strikes. The front desk clerk couldn't have been nicer and put me in another room immediately. It was much better, no smoke, no worms!

The rooms were below average and the service was lazy. I had an issue with my room and the attendant didn't bother to notify the manager. I was very dissatisfied...

Railroad track

1/2 block from railroad track. No phone in room, we had to ask for one and then the jack was broken and they had to fix it. Was not happy will not stay there again.

Pros: Location.
Cons: Needs more comfortable mattresses.
Location: Easily accessible to the city of Birmingham and it's many attractions.
Friendly, courteous staff and clean rooms. Spent two nights there, would stay again.

Location: Location. I good stop by place on way to destination
Staff was great! The lobby area was appealing but condition of rooms not the same. Breakfast exceeded my expectation. Hallways noisy at 4am with guests running and talking in hallway. Walls are very thin. This hotel is in a decent location. It needs to be either refurbished or demolished.
