No mention of renovation at booking!

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: NA
Cons: Everything!
I booked this hotel for an employee who was attending a conference. I am very embarrassed when he showed me the pictures he took of the hotel. At no point was it mentioned that the hotel was undergoing renovations and all the lovely amenities were not offered! I see on the reviews I am not alone in my disappointment. I also noticed that if you give a negative review you get a canned response from the hotel telling you they are sorry and tell you all about their renovations. That is not okay - you should have informed your travelers well before they had to complain. Regardless of how beautiful your renovated hotel will look - we will never book it again!

Entire Hotel is undergoing construction. This is something that should be listed when booking. Due to the construction, there are no ice/vending machines. Hotel "complimentary" breakfast is $12.99 per person. We also booked a king and were given two queen beds. Called the front desk and they were stated all the king rooms were booked and could move me into one the next day. In my mind, its too much of a hassle to unpack for one night then repack just to move to another room to unpack.

Under construction

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable room. Public space including elevator rundown.
Room was clean and comfortable. Apparently, rest of hotel under construction and in need of a facelift.

Don't charge full price during major renovation!

Posted Jul 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
Renovation is understandable, and Wyndham Garden Hotel Gaithersburg will be renovating for quite some time to make the hotel better. But they did not make any effort to minimize inconveniences. For example, breakfast service was terrible (I'm not complaining about the fact that it was in a small conference room, but the actual effort and quality behind what was available, even given the situation.) Elevators were uncomfortably hot because of construction on the top floor causing them to turn off the AC in them, I suppose. But the oddest thing of all was that there was a minimum wage person in the hall sitting in a chair literally right next to my room door, all night. I had to step lively to avoid bumping into him when I left in the morning. He was there in case of a fire, to show us the exits, since construction had blocked the usual ones, apparently. At least he told me something like this... And a minor point, the front deck clerk was not at her station the night I arrived, had to look around for her for several minutes to check in. All in all, they are greedy and maybe foolish to have guests when the hotel is not up to standards, for whatever reason.

Dear Guest, On behalf of Wyndham garden Hotel, kindly accept our sincere apologies for not being able to provide you the high standard of hospitality which is the general norm of our hotel. We genuinely regret the inconvenience caused to you because of this. We apologize for the associate sitting outside by the elevators. We are currently going through a massive renovation of our hotel, to service our guests in the future. All our rooms will be equipped with full size kitchens and large suites.

Under construction was an understatement!

Posted Jul 23, 2014
I took a risk, thinking Wyndham Gardens had a certain level of pride in their properties. Sadly, the amount of construction on site should have caused them to close their doors, rather than risk their reputation for a few bookings. Broken elevators, sheets of plastic or broken drywall between us and the outside 2nd level, coffee service removed early, makeshift brkfst room, walking under scaffolding, avoiding roofing nails on the sidewalk, no reservation shuttle (just wait), and construction men gawking, as my daughters passed through - if it were not for Expedias no cancelation policy, I would have left in a heartbeat! Will not be booking through expedia or with Wyndham again anytime soon!

Thank you for taking the time to complete this expedia survey. It is only as a result of people like you that we are able to review our product quality and overall service. We are in the midst of renovating our hotel exterior and the project will continue into the spring of 2015. We do this for the overall aesthetic beauty for all of our customers. I apologize that you found the exterior and interior unacceptable. It is work in progress and it is a necessary process to maintain our hotel. I truly hope we can be of service to you again in the very near future.

Old hotel being refurbished

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Cons: Temporary closure during work.
The hotel is being refurbished and partially closed. During the day there is considerable noise from the building works. Breakfast is served in a temporary and unsuitable location. It is very basic and limited, yet expensive.
