We absolutely loved The Castle Garden cottage. Everything about the interior was completely amazing and there was so much attention to detail! The little area where the cottages were was close to everything in Big Bear, but still felt secluded and quiet. The hotel staff were super nice and attentive when we checked in and out. I would definitely come back here, but next time I want to stay in the Tree House -- it looked amazing from the outside!

Treehouse vacation!!Posted Nov 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
Went on a little getaway with the fiancé. This place was awesome!! Super nice room. We stayed in the treehouse, and it did not disappoint. The staff is really friendly. And I love that it's close to the village. We are definitely coming back to this place!!

Fun Themed Lodging!Posted Nov 21, 2014
Pros: The ambiance of the rooms!
Cons: Maybe using air freshners or Glade plug ins before folks arrive.
Location: Lots to do, location is real close to the village!
This is not your normal lodging experience, which is exactly why we wanted to go! We stayed in the Castle on our visit. Be aware, it does smell a bit like Disneyland Pirates of Carribean BUT with all the plants and water fall, that should be expected. If you are a tidy freak, this isn't the place for you. The room was clean but again, it's a Castle so it's not going to be perfect. We will certainly be going back, we had a blast and enjoyed the ambiance of the room. If you are a bit more adventurous and tired of the "norm", this place is great!!!

GrrrPosted Nov 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
The cabins are not cleaned. Very, very dusty place. I also cleaned the jacuzzi myself before using it. The biggest problem is that the fireplace got clogged (again, not much cleaning) and we almost died. Smoked filled up the room, and we were asleep. The smoke alarm woke us up. Otherwise, kaput. . .

Castle Wood Cottages - Captain's QuartersPosted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Room was clean, warm, and comfortable.
Location: About a five minute walk from Big Bear Village where there is plenty of shopping and eateries. There is a view of the lake directly across.
I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this room was. It is a cottage in the woods so I wasn't expecting anything terribly fancy, but this was a great little cottage. The staff did a great job of carrying the pirate/nautical theme throughout the place. Loved the fireplace and the jacuzzi tub! And the wall heater kept the room nice and toasty while we slept.

A Cave Themed Cottage That Fred & Wilma Would LovePosted Nov 15, 2014
We loved this cave themed cottage. The attention to detail is impressive. The rock effects, complete with stalactites, were well done. The jacuzzi was awesome with water falling down through the rock formations into the tub. The decor was spot on with animal print bedspread, a headboard with petroglyphs, and sheepskin window covers. There were even large bones and a book on Early Man on the mantle of the wood burning fireplace. The double wide shower was in a grotto of it's own. Modern conveniences included a TV, refrigerator, microwave, glass goblets, plates, and stainless steel flatware. They even had a cave woman outfit hanging on a hook, available for pictures. We definitely recommend this for fun loving people looking for a change of pace. They also have free WiFi so you can post and share your photos of this unique cottage.
