“Cold water in the cave”
I booked the Crystal Cave Cottage for 2 nights for my boyfriends 29th bday (you ride for free at Big Bear/Snow Summit on your birthday, FYI!). When booking this hotel vis Expedia, I also "Yelped" the location for further reviews. I was weary to hear the hot tubs included in the rooms had luke warm water..... that was a generous description. I'd rather not take a cold bath in a jetted tub after a day of snowboarding. While the bathroom water was hot at all times, we never got even luke warm water for the tub. This is a major highlight of the room I'm paying for, it should be hotter. I decided to go with it bc who can resist a caveman theme!..... and it's Big Bear, so I wasnt shooting for the Four Seasons.
Otherwise, the place was nice enough for 2 nights. Although, I dont think someone seeking 3 stars would be happy with its cleanliness, I wasnt turned off by the bits of dust on widowsills and in our tub the 2nd day (after the maid had "cleaned" the room).... it supposed to be a cave afterall, right? I will say there was effort put into props and decorating (we decided to for go theprovided costumes for props of our own though). We brought our own firewood and the fire might have been the best part for me. I wouldnt go back unless I was guaranteed hot water in that jacuzzi.... or else I dont think it would be worth the $$$. Bottom line, if your going to advertise enjoymemnt of an in room jacuzzi and you wont foot the bill for hot water..... than advertise it as a cold bath!
