“better than the Northwoods”

We go every year to the Northwood but this year they were sold out so we opted for this hotel. It is a walking distance to the village and on the lake so you get both the views and the location to the village. The rooms were very nice, clean and felt fresh (as opposed to the Northwood where things felt old dated). The only thing that I found was lacking is that there seem to be a very weak signal for the wi-fii in the room. Loved the balcony!!! I would go back as a matter of fact we are going back in two months.

Family-friendly activities
Must go to the alpine slides/snow park and the funplex which is right next door to the bowling alley. The discovery center offer on Saturdays a great activities for the kids at no charge (including story time and snow hike for the kids). When you first come to big bear stop at the information center they offer great coupons for many attraction in the area just make sure to ask about them and they can print it fresh from the printer.

“Best location in Big Bear Lake”

We stayed at the Marina Resort for thee nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The property is a little older but the location right on the lake makes up for it. They are also replacing old TVs with new flat screens. The pool was heated, spa enjoyable. We had breakfast in front of the lake every morning. The rooms also have balconies (a little small). There is also a small playground. There were weddings held each day but because our room location was ath the other end of the hotel, it did not bother us. All in all, it was a very relaxing get-away for me and my family.

“all rooms with a view”

We were very impressed all rooms have a beautiful lake view. Very comfortable beds with tons of pillows. The room did show some wear, needed new carpet, bathroom update and ice machine did not work.We were pleasantly greated and a bit before check-in time. Having a private beach and enclosed was especially nice for an evening walk. The Village is just across the street, so handy for shopping and eating. Also access to lake water sport are just next door. Price was fair through expedia. We would return.

We walked to the Village. All sort of shops. I liked the great varity. El Jacalito had good mexican food with patio dining. Good Breafast at Poo Bears.

“LAKEVIEW”

MARINA INN IS RIGHT ON BIG BEAR LAKE. HAS ITS OWN SAN BEACH AND MEDIUM SIZE POOL AND JACUZZI. POOL IS CLEAN BUT COLD! REFRESHING WHEN HOT OUTSIDE. BEEN THERE MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS AND MATTRESSES ARE GETTING TIRED AND SOFT. WAY TOO SOFT FOR THOSE WITH BAD BACKS. THERE WERE TWO SMALL LAMPS IN THE ROOM WHICH GAVE OUT AS LITTLE LIGHT AS POSSIBLE. VERY DARK AT NIGHT. LOCATED NEAR SEVERAL VERY GOOD RESTAURANTS. BEST ONE IS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET--STILLWELLS. NO VIEW AT THAT LOCATION .HOWEVER WOULD STAY AGAIN JUST FOR THE VIEW.

“Very relaxing”

The hotel was centrally located. We parked our car on Tuesday and had no need to use it again until we left on Thursday. We walked to the Village, to restrauants and to the lake cruise.

“Beautiful Lake view!”

The Marina Resort is a beautiful hotel where every room has a private veranda or patio with a view of the lake and surrounding hills. It is situated across the street from the Village where you can find interesting shops, two small movie theaters, and good restaurants. We had a lovely and relaxing four day visit and plan to return next summer. We also attended the fabulous play, "My Fair Lady" produced by the CATS theater group. It was very professionally done and a wonderful addition to our vacation.

“Nice Hotel right on the lake.”

I picked this hotel because it is right on the water and each room has a balcony to sit and enjoy the sunshine. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds luxurious. The only down side was that the rooms are very narrow. There is just a narrow path between the beds and the TV cabinet.

Area recommendations
The village is fun for looking. We enjoyed Virginia Lee's little drive in. Very reasonable and a picnic table in back to enjoy the food. We enjoyed the boat tour on the Marina Queen. Also we went to the museum and that was very enjoyable and informative with the docents at each stop. Big Bear has a lot of interesting history. Just driving around the whole lake was a pleasure. Apple Dumplings at Thelma's were great
When to go
We went the second week of June. It is in between seasons and not many people. That was a plus for us. The Lake tour is fun and you hear a lot of history.
