“Big Room”

We had a very nice room with sitting area, well stocked kitchenette and wonderful view from the bedroom area. While everything was clean and tasteful the room and property could use some freshening. Noise from neighbors, actually the kids, was a bit of an issue, Staff at check out and check in were great. Thanks for the nice weekend.

“Clean room”

The mattress was a little soft and the kitchenette faucet required effirt to keep it from leaking. Otherwise, we enjoyed our room very much. Very clean - which is important for my son with allergies.

“nice/not great...”

The sheets on our bed came off over and over (just from sleeping). The bed was listed as a Queen but was clearly a double. More and more hotels list this way and it is never appreciated. The woman at the front desk was very kind and helpful and the facility in and of itself was well kept up and nice. Each unit shares a washer and dryer (free) with another unit.

“Nice, comfortable resort environment”

The facility is clean and environment is nice. But the opening hours of the swimming pool, gym and spa is too early. They all close at 9pm, even on weekends. It will also be nice if there is a restaurant or a small cafe on site as the shops and restaurants are about 10 minutes away.

“Not a hotel, these are converted timeshare condos.”

Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Room had nice view of wilderness. Condos were in secluded area protected by security gate. Good looking indoor pool. Tennis courts available. Very peaceful. Cons: Location is not Lake Arrowhead, but Blue Jay. Takes 10 minutes to get to the village. No air conditioning made for a sleepless night. Had to leave back door open to cool down the room (no windows) and was repeatedly awakened by noise from outside. Room appeared to be a condo which was subdivided. TV stand was in poor location, not easily visible from bed. Washer/Dryer just outside the front door. Room full of young men stayed up late doing laundry. Maybe its a mountain thing but the lobby doesnt open until 9:15 a.m., well after we wanted to leave. Too late for complimentary coffee, etc.

“Too hot during the summer”

This is a time share development with nice units and easy access to the lake and nearby businesses. Our unit was older but clean and well kept, and had two bedrooms and a loft. We needed a place to stay for one night this summer, and for the price we expected this place to deliver decent value. However, our unit was very hot when we got there, and the air conditioning system did not get the interior temperature under 80 degrees at all during the day. The rising heat rendered the loft area unusable. Made it really hard to spend any time inside. Because of this, we will not go back there.

“It was a time share not a hotel”

This "Hotel" was a timeshare. The room was old, worn with lots of dents and dings, scrapes and poorly applied patches. When my wife asked the front desk attendant about housekeeping and fresh towels, he said that there is no housekeeping and there is a washing machine for you to launder your own towels. . .detergent was only $1.50. To avoid a penalty fee we had to take our trash to the dumpster. Entry foyer to room had a nursing home order lingering. The bed was very unconfortable. If I wanted to stay in a do-it-yourself room I would not have selected a "hotel." It was do-it-youself quality for regular "hotel" prices. It was unreasonalbe to advertise this as a hotel. There was not enough hot water for me, my wife, and two kids to take sequentail showers. We never did find the vaccuum cleaner to clean the carpets before we left. We wanted to check out at 7:30 am but there was no one available at the front dest to check out with nor to ask were the vaccuum was stored. I hope I don't get stuck with a "you didn't vaccuum the room before leaving" charge. If you like timeshare vacationing, this is th place for you; if you like hotels, look elsewhere.

“frankly the worst hotel I've stayed at!”

Im a 42 year old married father of two young daughters (2 and 4 years in age). Upon arriving at the resort we were impressed by the security gates and long drive up to the main entrance. The help at the front desk was wonderful. When we found our way to our room i noticed several teenagers hanging around the general area. I went back to the front desk and promptly asked to be moved to a different room as I sensed there was going to be a noisy evening where we were located. After several minutes they front desk denied our request. It had been a long day so we had decided to retire for the evening in our room. The room itself was clean. This particular resort has a floor plan that can be hard to describe. Needless to say we were in a condo like location with one main entrance for every two suites. From the moment we arrived I knew we were in for a noisy evening. Our neighbors turned out to be young teenagers throwing a party of some sort above us. Dont get me wrong, I love a good party, as long as its not in the room above me while my two young daughters try to sleep. It took several calls to some offsite service (BECAUSE THERE WAS NO STAFF AT THE FRONT DESK THAT EVENING) to finally get through to the manager. It wasnt until off duty help arrived that they believed our story. We packed and left the location only to drive home that evening. This resort is no where to spend a quiet evening with your family.. Dont do it............

“All the lights are burned out and service is terrible”

I arrived after 9pm. There were poor signs directing one to registration which after driving around and around I found was closed. I finally did arrive at the door to registration which was closed with no clear signage. I called the number I had for the resort. It required numerous calls to get into the resort gate, to find registration, and finally to be given direction to open a wall safe and pick up an envelope with "instructions" where to go and how to get in. The envelope had the wrong room number on it. I fell down some stairs that were not lit, almost all the lighting on the stairs and on the entry areas to the rooms were burnt out. Even the room numbers on the buildings were burnt out. The bright spot was after my fall, (thought I broke a knee and no one to help) the less than helpful Michelle who answered the phone and had been less than service oriented through out this entire fiasco transferred me without explaining why to a maintenance man. He was incredible. Helped me find the right room which the key fit even though the envelope label didn't, and appologized for all the problems. I won't be going back to North Bay. I never review rooms or hotels, this was such a bad experience, it was worthy of mention.
