“Great mountain, great hotel, great conditions...can't wait to go back!”

We wanted to try a new area for snowboarding a decided on Big Sky after seeing the low cost for a 4 night trip. We decided to try The Lodge at Big Sky based on the other traveler opinions and the fact that it was less expensive than the other properties. We were pleasantly surprised! Keep in mind, we were there early season and there were only about 5 rooms booked at the time. Everything was not quite up and running yet since they had only opened back up for the season that week. When we walked in the lobby area was nice and cozy with couches everywhere and a nice big fireplace. A nice "lodge" feel to it. There was a small bar area (about 5 stools) that they opened for us to hang out in whenever we wanted a drink. We were upgraded to a mountain view room from our original booking after we got to our room and noticed there wasn't a view. The rooms were VERY spacious and the entire hotel was nice and CLEAN! We met Jeff the owner who greeted us by name every time we saw him...friendly guy! We never used the shuttle...it was about a block and a half easy walk to the main lifts. About 5 different little bars/restaurants to eat at within walking distance or drive 7 miles into town. Nice, low key place to go boarding. If you are looking for a Ritz Carlton feel, club atmosphere or busy nightlife Big Sky is not the place. What you will find are SUPER FRIENDLY locals, mellow bars, casual dining and WIDE OPEN RUNS!!! The mountain is fantastic for all levels of skiers/boarders.

“Would definitely return again”

Jeff, the owner, and all the staff at the hotel made us extremely welcome. The hotel shuttle to the Ski Slopes/Shops/Restaurants was available during the morning at about 10 minutes or less intervals and also to bring us back after skiiing,if we wanted. Jeff even dropped us of in the evening on his way home. The hotel has a lovely lounge and bar for apres ski. The skiing was excellent with plenty of snow and very short lift lines. If we returned to Big Sky we would definitely use this hotel again.

“Nice Hotel!”

We visit Yellowstone and be tired of searching expensive but less comfort hotels at entrances, this one may take bit more driving but well worth it.

“Great Place to Stay in Big Sky”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Big Sky Lodge. The room was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was great! The location was convenient. Nice indoor pool and hot tubs, both indoor and outdoor. If you are in town on a Monday night, ask about the Pig Roast near town. It was a great value. Enjoyed rafting on the Gallatin River.

“Comfortable with Everything You Need”

This was our third stay at The Lodge at Big Sky, and it gets better each year! The staff is as friendly or unobtrusive as you want. This year the staff had a Chillin' and Grillin' party for the guests which included great food (ribs, chicken kabobs, burgers, and sides) at a steal of a price and a lot of fun including music and dancing! The fire pit on the patio provides an amazing place to sit and take in the stunning view of Lone Peak while toasting marshmallows for smores! The ping-pong tables downstairs offer a great chance to have some sporting fun after a soak in the hot tubs. Possibly the best part is the complimentary shuttle to run you and your skiis to the slopes - or considering it is only one block away you can walk to the village center and slopes anytime you want!

“Great Big Sky ski value & experience”

We stayed at the lodge for a week in early April 2009 for a ski vacation and had a great time. The staff were great and did their best to make sure everyone had a good experience at the hotel. We were there for the skiing and really didn't expect much considering it was a great price for a hotel walking distance to the lifts. The staff upgraded us to a larger mountain view room when we arrived and they saw that we had two kids. The hotel runs a shuttle in the morning and afternoon to and from the slopes even though it's only about a 200-300 yd walk. Meals - they don't have a full restaurant, but they do have complimentary breakfast every morning (selection gets a bit repetitive), and they had a buffet style (basic) meal choice every night, along with happy hour. The buffet is convenient for a family with kids after the end of a tiring ski day. The other bonus was nightly activities to entertain the kids. A bit goofy (Pictionary, karaoke, G-rated youtube videos on a big screen, scavenger hunt, etc.), but if you travel with kids it's a welcome addition because it helped us avoid hearing "I'm bored." That is worth a lot on a weeklong trip with kids. I highly recommend the hotel for travelers on a budget headed to Big Sky for skiing. It's not the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton, but the cost, proximity to the lifts, and experience were a terrific deal. I travel a lot for business and vacations, and we'd stay there again with no hesitation.

“Great place to stay”

We were very pleased with our stay in Mountain Inn. The staff were extremely courteous. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The housekeeping did a great job. The breakfast is also very sumptuous. Also the last day of our trip, we had a great time in the pool and family had great fun together. The only point to consider is if you are visiting Yellowstone is the distance from the hotel is about 50 miles (takes about 1 hour to west entrance). But we did not mind it since the hotel was so homely and nice. Definitely recommended.

“Everything we needed”

The Lodge at Big Sky was everything we needed. We have been to Big Sky a couple of times before and stayed at the Huntley Lodge (paper thin walls) and in a condo (small and dingy). This time we went back with our eight year old daughter and on a slightly tighter budget. The Lodge was by far the cheaper of the hotel options in Big Sky, but we were really pleased with our choice. The room was large with a fantastic mountain view. The slopes were only a couple of minutes away but the hotel still put on a shuttle service which was welcome at the end of the day. The service in the hotel was everything we needed (helpful, friendly staff) and none of the things we don't need (bell boys and frills). The pool was great and even though only one of the outside hot tubs seemed to be operating it was easy to find it empty and have a dip. The hotel was full but never felt croweded and our room was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast is provided - it's pretty basic but really covers everything you need and we were more than happy with it. They did a great BBQ one night and organised games for the children some evenings. All in all pretty perfect for our family.
